So there are many ways to make a house/base in Minecraft and many people consider the idea unoriginal. However there are many different ways to do it so the idea isn't unoriginal as some people might think. If your are going to do this legit, (on survival without mods/cheats) it WILL take quite a while so be prepared to do lots of mining and wood cutting. Let's begin!
First, start your world like a normal survival. Make a house, start a mine and gather wood. If your're not going to do your survival on easy, normal, or hard difficulty, skip the steps for a wheat farm and melon farm as you will not need food. gather seeds and pumpkins (if you come across any) for the pumpkin and wheat farms.
The Wheat Farm
The wheat farm is a good early food source and aren't hard to make. First, fence of a good sized area of flat land so animals will not trample the farm. Then make a small one block deep trench in the dirt that extends from one end of the fenced area and pour water in it from your water buckets. Now right click the dirt next to it using your hoe and then plant the seeds. Repeat as many times as desired.
The Melon/Pumpkin Farm
The melon and pumpkin farms share the same design as they grow the same way. Simply create a row of water and hoe the a block of dirt next to the fence and pland a seed. Skip a dirt block and hoe the next one. Here is a diagram of a farm
