Thanks I'll do my best, but with exams, I might only manage 1 tutorial a day
XD one a day is more than enough, for me knowledge is knowledge. I just wish that Forge had more documentation on its capabilities, that way i don't have to be dismantling minecraft source code and copying that, just to figure out how to make my own custom liquid and stuff.
but the best way to learn is practice, and playing with code. I'm still new to all of this so, we shall see what i can create and learn.
Sad no tutorials today :(. I have 2 recommendations for the next tutorial hopefully in the next couple days or so (I'm sure your aware of both). Block meta-data and Block generation (like ores). I'm sure you have already thought about the first and as for the second I think that ore generation is important to code in the beginning because then we don't have to keep creating new worlds to get our ores to spawn in the game, server resets, etc.
Hi Deverion. Thank you very much. Your tutorials are helping me a lot
A little thing. In the third tutorial you have written:
I create a folder called "gfx" in Minecraft.common and drop my terrain.png and my items.png. I can test my mod without problems and I did not put this folder into minecraft.jar.
@SideOnly(Side.CLIENT)
public String getTextureFile()
{
return "/gfx/terrain.png";
}
For me it's easier that way because sometimes I have to edit the sprites and so is faster.
Thanks again for your effort in making the tutorials and share them with us.
PD: Sorry for my english. I'm from Spain and my english is really bad.
O.K. Thanks for telling me, I knew there was a way to do it like that but I couldn't remember how, and it didn't work in deverionx.modtutorial, I will add to the tutorial

Thanks for the feedback I agree wholeheartedly on that point, the most I could figure out from the documentation was how to make am achievement page

Loving your tutorials !
Thanks again,

Metadata is the next tutorial and ore-gen and other world gen will be coming soon

Awesome!
@DeverionX: Will you do a tutorial on how to export and package a mod with all it's assets to share it publicly?

could you show us how to make a custom liquid block, like water and a different one for lava. I want to try to create radiation, but i can only manage a DOT damage for a solid block. i want to make a liquid block instead, using forge tho.

I'll make a tutorial for it as soon as I can figure out how to do it
Hey, for your block metadata tutorial, how would you go about creating blocks with different light values, hardness, resistances, etc when you only define the block once? :/ Thanks again for these awesome tuts, super clear!

In the tutorial 8 coming up I'm doing special things with metadata blocks, It shouldn't be too long until it's ready
Once you finish programming how do you get the mod working in the game? I installed forge in a clean minecraft.jar along with the gfx folder and it all works fine here. I used recompile.bat and then reobfuscate.bat.
Do you just take the folder in the reobf folder and put it in the minecraft.jar? Or zip it and put it in the mod folder?
Edit: OK I got it. You put the Unzipped folder from the reobf folder in the mods directory, and make sure the jar file is clean. I tried unzipped after the zipped version failed, but it still didn't work until I replaced the .jar and then only put the folder in.

Will do, but right now I'm doing block metadata tutorial
I'll make a tutorial for it as soon as I can figure out how to do it

If not, I'm still gunna add a thank you!
Keep it up dude
Kill two stones with one bird whenever possible
As far as I know, splashes are added through a text file in the .jar, there might be a way to add them from a mod, I'll look into it

Yeah, it shouldn't make too big of a difference
Sure, I'll work on one
Its almost exactly the same as a normal Block, except instead of extends block you do extends BlockStairs, You have to import net.minecraft.src.BlockStairs as well. There is a tutorial on this page if you need more info http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1447054-darkhax-modding-tutorials-forge-25082012/
Yeah, I'll try to do a tutorial for it, but I can't do anything until I finish the one I'm working on otherwise I end up very confused again :/
I figured I would save Deverion some work so he can get to the cool stuff
Any idea when the next tutorial will be out?
