Congratulations! Let me know how its going for you
The .batch file starts the server yes, it's kind of like the Client launcher in a way, that's what the server.jar is for, and as for the batch file save options, all you do is click on all files, and when you save it it will automatically convert into a .bat file. And it's no problem, I like helping people who need it.
Ok, so I almost got it working, and thanks for clarifying, this article helped, so now all i have to do is fix something in the batch file due to my computer being a *****. So once again, thanks man. also for your profile picture, , its effing hilarious.
But when my friends try's to join my serverit says: "this server requires you to have minecraft forge installed".
how do they install that?
They open their minecraft.jar file within their minecraft client, and they download minecraft forge and mo' creatures and the other required mods, then install them by dragging the files from the mod folders into the .jar, in fact, it's best if you just look it up on google.
I need help
I followed your instructions, and it seems that everything is working except that I can not see or hear the mobs. I can see the effects; being poisioned out of nowhere while in the water, vanilla mobs being hunted, getting atacked by invisible bigcats (I know what they were because I used the insta-spawner). the only thing I can think of is that .bat file. when I open it, the comand line flashes on and off once and then nothing happens. I can start it by clicking on the .jar file, which brings up the gui. (by the way, I do have the .jar, not the .exe). can you please help me?
edit: can you please help me, I have been checking this fourm and the main one every 20 minutes for days now and am starting to think that it is not posible.
I had this problem when I first made my server, and it's because your mo' creatures client and server are of different versions, so double check you have the corresponding versions.

It is not compatible with bukkit as of late.
No problem! and thanks haha
No problem bud
thanks for the help.
turns out that when I put mo'creatures on my client, it gave me an archived file, which I decompiled. thus there were two files, one archive and one regular. it seems it was reading the archive instead of the regular. when I removed the archive it worked.
thanks again, i never thought it was a problem with the client since single player worked.

Hey Thanks, this is really good
I have only one problem though, only I can see the server on the computer that it's been hosted.
On my friends computer they can't even connect to the server, apparently it doesn't exist.
It stops on 'Connecting to server' and never advances to 'Logging in', it just goes back to the menu.
Is there anything that I could possibly be doing wrong? Do they need Hamachi?

If your hosting the server through hamachi, then they also need hamachi, and they need to be connected to your hamachi network, otherwise, I have no idea what the problem could be, also, how good is your internet connection? sometimes if your connection is too slow, your server just won't show up or can't be logged into, due to such a slow upload speed.
Create a new folder inside the server folder called "mods", without the quotations, and drag and drop the Mo' Creatures SMP jar folder inside the mods folder.
I do not see that "jar folder" I assume you are talking about the zip file. When placed in the mods folder I get

runs fine without mo' creature mod.
I also get this error. I have tried using every post 90 build of minecraft forge. I am also using mo mod 3.7.0. I get this error every time just running mo mod by itself. Anyone else getting this?

I too am getting this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Seems mo creature mod 3.7.0 has an issue with server creation. The creator has uploaded a fix 3.7.1 that should fix the server creation issue. Worked for me.
um i made startserver.bat then changed to all files got batch file clicked it to open it then it apeared on screen real fast then disappeared real fast HELP WAT DO I DO TO FIX IT PLZ HELP ty!

I'm terribly sorry for not answering until now, I've been on vacation. But I had that same problem, try updating to Java 7, that resolved the issue for me. If you have already updated to Java 7, then I have no idea what the problem could be. Sorry if I am of no help.
Ok, so when i try to double click the batch file, the command prompt comes up but goes away within one second. I copy and pasted the code you said to, and changed file type to all files. and named it startserver.bat and saved. I'm not sure what to do . :/
I used to be a adventurer like you, till I took a arrow to the patella.

Edit: I am also trying to install 3.7
Turns out there may be some issues with the server mod according to this:

Looks like he's working on a patch (3.71), and hopefully it'll work for us afterwards.
