A short, simple tutorial I made on how to install Too Many Items. And use it on a server! I realize many people already know how to do this because it is so easy, but, thought I might as well make this video anyways you know? haha. Anyway! Hope it helps:

Ahh I see, well... There are no bad words in my tutorial as I don't use them.... But! All right, here's a summary:
Google "Too Many Items 1.2.3" scroll down to where it says "download Too Many Items 1.2.3" (or here's a link: http://www.minecraft...__fromsearch__1 )
then once it's downloaded open the zip file with the extracting program that is on your linux machine (if it doesn't unzip automatically open a terminal and type:
unzip TooManyItems2012_03_03_1.2.3.zip
if that doesn't work... Then check that you have an unzipping program installed) once you have extracted the files open another window by going to the home folder once at the home folder make sure you can see the hidden files (if you're using Ubuntu press ctrl+H to show them, if you're on a different version of linux, just make sure you can see the hidden folders or do a search for .minecraft) and open up .minecraft then go to "bin" after that double click on "minecraft.jar" it should open and you should see a bunch of files and folders. First thing you want to do is delete the folder called "META-INF" once you've done that go back to where you have extracted the TooManyItems.zip then copy (or drag and drop) all of those files into the minecraft.jar that you have open. Once done with all of that close everything down and try to run minecraft. If you did everything right it should work! To check, go in game and press 'E' if you see all of the TMI stuff then it worked, if you don't then press 'O' if that doesn't make it show up then try again!
Hope this helps!! Let me know how it goes.
thanks so much! although, my terminal went crazy and didn't unzip, and I don't know if I have an unzipping program..... what are some unzipping program examples? so I know what i'm looking for.

Which version of linux are you running? That would be helpful to know.. But, try this command
sudo apt-get install zip unzip
and then attempt to unzip again. If that doesn't work let me know which version of linux you are using and we'll go from there. Or, here is a program to try: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html (scroll down to the section on linux downloads)
Help. Im running liunx and ive draged the .class files from the .zip file into minecraft.jar, and ive deleted the META.INF folder. But every time I open minecraft and make a new world or go into an exsisting one and try to open my inventory it frezees for a second and the menu pops up saying "saving chunks" then the minecraft window goes black HELP!!

Back up your minecraft saves, then delete your minecraft bin folder from with in the .minecraft folder. Then, open the minecraft launcher and click "force update" once you've done that load up a world and see if it freezes on you still with the "saving chunks" error. If it does not freeze, try the steps again. If it does freeze let me know. If you try the steps again and it still freezes after not freezing while on vanilla.. Let me know.
