Ah yes...because you assume everyone never watches the video, and I have, and carefully, the only ID's I have seen him change is the ChunkLoader block
I have noticed some strange things about red power while working with it the last few days, mainly that it automatically assigns IDs the first time it is run (when it generates the config file). It's complained about an ID conflict where no other mod was using the ID, and assigned 3 paint buckets to the same item ID even.
If you follow the instructions to the letter on a windows machine (only starting minecraft after every mod is in the mods folder), you shouldn't have a problem. You can take a look in the redpower.cfg in it's folder and see what it has assigned to 149, perhaps multiple things are. It might also help to install everything except red power, run minecraft so all the other mods get settled, then run red power so it might figure out how to fill in the gaps itself... or at least screw itself up in an easy-to-fix way.

Looks like a ID conflict between railcraft and IC2. I am not using railcraft myself, but obviously nobody else has had this conflict. I'd venture to guess you didn't start from the beginning when you upgraded IC2. You should probably start from scratch to make sure everything resolves as it did for others. That being said, you could take a shortcut and back up only your minecraft.jar (since it seems you packaged that correctly), download a fresh install from Mojang, then overwrite the minecraft.jar with the backup. Then you can follow the video from after he's installed everything in the jar.
I remember modding was tough at first, but it's learning a pattern, and then following it over and over. It takes patience to start, and gets easier with practice. Hang in there :smile.gif:

ok, im going to save the minecraft.jar file
and then start the video like you mention from where he starts to place mods in.
see what happens..lol
here we go again..wish me luck :smile.gif:
And as we speak, buildcraft just updated their mod from 2.2.8 to 2.2.9
ahem, taking deep breath.
Ok so I started with a fresh Minecraft 1.0 and installed ModLoader, Modloader Mp, Forge, Audio Mod, TMI, and the minecart Comp thing. When I Launch minecraft it opens up fine. I can generate a new world and everything. When I noticed the Volume was off I checked the setting and Music and Sounds were at 0. I tried turning up the sound level and instantly Minecraft Froze and went to a black Screen. I have tried the same thing many times. I am running minecraft on a mac and I know how to install mods well and fix Id Conflicts. I have never used Audio Mod before though. Any Ideas?

I did what you informed me to do.
and for some odd reason.
Minecraft Opens, gives me 'blue window' with java error inside of it.
then it goes to black screen and it self closes all on its own.
this is the only error i see.

Now instead of me using Buildcraft 2.2.8 I went ahead and downloaded v2.2.9
because it just came out.
it then informed me that I needed to update the forge to v1.2.3 in order for me to proceed.
So I went to the blog site and got the forge v1.2.3 and copied over what ever was in the minecraft.jar
and now no matter what I do, minecraft opens gives me 'blue screen' with java error, and closes right away
all on its own.
Updated the OP with changes I made today. Specifically:
12/21/2011 -
So far, things seem good, and some bugs are fixed. Would appreciate anyone replying to the thread saying they also had success
-- Installed Minecraft Forge v1.2.3 (From Eloraam's site)
-- Installed Red Power 2, PreRelease 4b (From Eloraam's Site)
-- Upgraded Buildcraft to v 2.2.9
-- Added IC2 Addon - Advanced Machines -- No ID Conflicts.
Important Anytime you upgrade forge, you'll need to re-install the Minecart Compatibility Layer again AFTER you've updated forge.
IMPORTANT Anytime you want to mess with changing your mods around, you should ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS backup your entire .minecraft folder. This way if you have problems you can roll back.
I take no responsibility for you breaking your install :smile.gif:. I'll try to help, but make no promises that I can.

One propblem with this.
Minecart Compatibility Layer that is currently available only supports up to forge v1.2.2
as it says in its zip file
"Minecart Compatibility Layer Client 4.0 for MC 1.0.0 Forge 1.2.2"
And I am using exactly what you are using and I can log into minecraft
but after 5 or 10 minutes,
minecraft gives me a grey window saying
'saving chunks'
and then goes to black-screen forever.
Magma, the next thing I was gonna ask is if you got DaStormBringer's update for additional pipes instead of Zeldo's(as his isn't updated for 1.0.0). But you figured it out yourself eh? I think you're gonna be ok mate. :smile.gif:
If you computer is being a bit iffy, you can always try adding optifine to your mods, it does a good job smoothing out Minecraft's performance, adds a lot of new graphics options, and supports HD texture packs. You copy it into the .jar and I think it works with all of these mods, and I have no problems installing it after everything else. Although I am not sure if it would conflict with the minecart compatability layer, but I can't imagine why it would.

and it seems it fixed something.
No I dont have DaStormBringer's update, I just downloaded Zeldo's.
and yes, I am in desperate need of 'optifine'
my performance has gone to the toilet, and I have 32gigs of DDR3 PC-1333 ram.
AMD quadcore cpu with an AMD 6970 GPU.
so im kinda shocked.
If you canmake it a bit easier for me, do you have the direct links for those 2 please :smile.gif:
I already popped my 3rd aspirin pill.
chugged it down with Pepsi.
thx
PS, if you see a double post, im sorry, for some reason my computer is acting up on posting.
dont know why,.
I could not have done it without your videos.
thank you.
and thanks to the people who helped me along the way
giving me advice and information so I can get it running.
its laggy as hell, but its running.
thank you.
:smile.gif:
If you already have these things going, don't worry about it yet, but if you haven't done the installs yet, thats what you gotta do.
Make sure you are using IC2 v1.42, not 1.337.

First, thank you for helping me :smile.gif:
I am really new at modding. So I have a bottle of aspirins next to me.
maybe that might be the problem,
because I might of went to an old post and not the right one.
thx

I took out :
zAdditionalPipesClient
and replaced it with :
buildcraft-client-DA-additionalpipes-31-3A
Then I redid the :
Minecart Compatibility Layer Client 4.0 for MC 1.0.0 Forge 1.2.2
and im logged back in, a bit laggy which never ever happened on my computer.
and I spawned next to a OIL fall and Lava.
every once in a while I get a frame stick but doing ok, have not got that damn black screen again 'thank god'
lets see what happens, but im in and playing my first time ever with mods that you have EXACTLY.
