Does anyone know how to create a recipe for a new item using another modded item as an ingredient?
I understand fully how to make tool/items/blocks and recipes. I just don't know what to make the Caracter.valueOf = to
Do I use the modded item's name? its ingame name? or its reference name? (Diamond = Emerald)

umm, if you mean for a mod you made just get rid of all the Block. and .blockID and Item. and .shiftedIndex
and just use the name of it, with nothing else
but for another mod_ you need mod_Othermod.theblock.blockID and for an item mod_Othermod.theitem.shiftedIndex
i think :I

Im not sure what your saying,
Ill put it in a scenario.
I created an upgraded tools mod, the upgraded tools are the modded item.
How can I use those upgraded tools in another recipe? (I am making "God" tools)
I have a problem:
I created a block and wanted it to drop a slime ball and another block.
everything worked fine but when i broke the block miecraft crashes with this error:
java.lang.NullPointerException

block code:
package net.minecraft.src;
import java.util.Random;
public class BlockBioComet extends Block
{
public BlockBioComet(int i, int j)
{
super(i, j, Material.ground);
}
public int idDropped(int i, Random random)
{
return mod_comets.BioComet.blockID + Item.slimeBall.shiftedIndex;
}
public int quantityDropped(Random random)
{
return 1;
}
public int getRenderBlockPass()
{
return 1;
}
public boolean isOpaqueCube()
{
return false;
}
}
i think the block + slimeball thing caused thi.
but i cannot even load the world without tis poiece of code!
erm...
try this
public int idDropped(int i, Random random)
{
if(random.nextInt(3) == 0)
{
return mod_Yourmod.youritem.shiftedIndex;
}
else
{
return mod_Yourmod.yourblock.blockID;
}
public int idDropped(int i, Random random)
{
if(random.nextInt(3) == 0)
{
return mod_Yourmod.youritem.shiftedIndex;
}
else
{
return mod_Yourmod.yourblock.blockID;
}
yes it is true, because you are already in the file, so there is nothing to define, if i said that right :tongue.gif:
Woo! So I just leave my 5 upgraded tool recipes, and then add 5 more for the god versions?
Excellent.
Of course Ill need to add the 5 good tool at the start of the code, but I was just stuck at the recipes.
Thanks again, you are the best resource in my modding.

It says that a return statement (ie return true/false/value;) is not inside a method. (ie not in any brackets excluding the main class brackets) Put it in one to fix it.
ye i've had a look at that one too, didnt quite do the trick.
I noticed it is pretty hard. i've looked into it myself. therefor i asked if it was posted already on this thread :tongue.gif:
just try to, copy blockcrop i guess, and change around the textures and names..
Do i need to import a java.util?
I understand fully how to make tool/items/blocks and recipes. I just don't know what to make the Caracter.valueOf = to
Do I use the modded item's name? its ingame name? or its reference name? (Diamond = Emerald)

Try reading the error, usually it's common sense:
It says that a return statement (ie return true/false/value;) is not inside a method. (ie not in any brackets excluding the main class brackets) Put it in one to fix it.
ummm, not fully sure :S

I understand it is an entity.
Generally, I'm trying to create a new arrow, that does more damage, and has a custom recipe.
yeah, but i don't know how...
