as long as you mod a minecraft.jar that is not the same one you are editing, like copy the minecraft.jar in jars/bin and paste, and modify that. Then you wil have no interference, the compile does not compile the actual jar in %appdata%/roaming/.minecraft/bin it packs into the jar under the jars folder, so it will never change anything to your already modded minecraft, and yet you can still s=test your mod because they are two different jars. So yes.
I recompile it, and then play it on with the MCP start client. It works perfectly, except I need my texture. So I reobfuscate, and then take the two class files and put them into my minecraft.jar. When I go into my game with the texture, the thing doesn't show. Why?

You might have put the wrong int for the texture. The grass texture is 0, the stone is 1, dirt 2, so on and so forth. The very bottom right texture is 255.
This will be added to the Advanced Block tutorial.

I mean, it's not even there. I can't see the texture in the client test, and it isn't there at all in the regular game.
Edit: I've figured out how to make myself see it, now I'm just finishing it up :biggrin.gif: But I don't know how to make a furnace recipe :sad.gif:
Ok, another error. I recompile after I think I fixed it, and it gives me this:
src\minecraft\net\minecraft\src\BlockOre.java:32: cannot find symbol
return Block.OreLight.shiftedIndex;
^
symbol: variable shiftedIndex
location: class Block

I'm on the FireRock tutorial, i have got everything done as it was in the tutorial, i have checked several times, i even copied the actual code from your post and pasted it in, but i still can't use the block. I can recompile and load the test client perfectly but when i try to put sand ontop of dirt (I customised the recipe for testing) i get nothing in return. I have indeed checked the crafting manager and its all good.
Any ideas?
I'm not sure. There are a few instances where you might have to make a shapeless recipe. Can I see the code you put in?
In MCP, reobfuscate. It'll tell you what ones you've edited, and it will put the .class files in the folder "reobf"
So this will let me add the mod to my own Minecraft? Sweet :smile.gif:
This tutorial is EXCELLENT. I just made a new block (Named it Redstone Concentrate :biggrin.gif:) and a few recipes to upgrade ores to better ones. (Iron -> Gold -> Diamond)
Can't wait til you finish those place holders too!
not sure what you mean by this, you can copy all the files into a different directory and edit them.
Like, mod my minecraft (Plasticcraft & zombe modpack) without interfering what im doing with Eclipse
Thanks for the tutorial, and this will really help if answered :biggrin.gif:

go into BlockOre and look at that, you can make your ore a new BlockOre() and then in BlockOre add another if statement.

Do I have to make an item?

Code:
if(blockID == Block.oreLight.blockID)
{
return Block.oreLight.shiftedIndex;
}
Anyone know what's wrong?
Instead of .shiftedIndex, put .blockID.

I just started moding and could you tell me how to make a slab?
I already have a block created, just need to know how to make it a slab. );
Thanks for the help so far <3

NP, dude. And I'm proud to say I'm Scottish, too.
