Hey guys! For all those wanting to make their own mods, I've been uploading easy to understand video tutorials on youtube using Modloader! I have tutorials on installation, creating custom blocks, naturally generating your custom blocks, creating items, creating recipes, and more! Today ( 6/7/2011 ) I am releasing a tutorial to show how to make an instant mine tool! Within the next few days, I also have many more tutorials coming out including how to make your own miniature nuke or add in new animals!
So if you guys are stuck and need some help, please try my video tutorials on youtube! I want to help as many people as possible! Thank you guys for reading! Happy modding!
(ALL MODS ARE MODLOADER COMPATIBLE) List of current tutorials:
1. Installation for Minecraft Version 1.6.6
2. Create custom blocks
3. Naturally generate custom blocks
4. Create items
5. Create recipes
Tutorials being released in next 2 days:
1. Create an instant mine tool
2. Create a new armor
3. Make a nuke
4. Create a new animal
5. Create a furnace recipe
6. Make your own liquid block
7. Any Suggestions!!
Thank god you bumped this, I was finally able to find out how to mod! Truly amazing stuff, 10/10 diamonds! The other tutorials treat you like you're a baby and don't like pictures or videos.
Thanks. Easy and understandable.
Keep em coming. :smile.gif:
Suggestion: Maybe a Tutorial on how to randomly generate bigger Objects like Trees? And a Tutorial on how to make a Block with Metadata. By that i mean how to make it that you have one Blockid but can craft different Versions of it (like Wool).
I think this is a good idea to. I have also been wanting to know how to make a new recipie that will recanice what coler wool it is. but I cant find any class files on it.
src/minecraft/net/minecraft/src/mod_PlutoniumBlock.java:13: ';' expected
public String Version
^
1 error
the line in the error is
public String Version()
does anyone know the problem? i have modded but not with modloader so i know how to read errors but can't find anything wrong
thanks if you help!
The error in question (if I understand correctly should look like this:
public String Version()
{
return "1.7.2";
}
the return string value should be what ever version of Minecraft it is for. The tutorials are based on the 1.6.X (mcp4.0) version of minecraft. If you do not have a return value, then you will need a semi-colon at the end of public String Version() which will look like: public String Version();
Hope that made sense...lol
To the OP, as a suggestion, can you possible make a tutorial on adding blocks with redstone functionality and/or something with moving parts? My current project is trying to create an elevator mod based on the new pistons. It will hopefully, extend beyond the current piston range of 1 block.
Thanks for the great tutorials

Im about to give up with this cause its not working but i though someone could help me. Heres my code for my mod_MyBlock:
package net.minecraft.src;
public class mod_MyBlock extends BaseMod
{
public static final Block myBlock;
public mod_MyBlock()
{
ModLoader.RegisterBlock(myBlock);
ModLoader.AddName(myBlock, "My fun gay block");
myBlock.blockIndexInTexture = ModLoader.addOverride("/terrain.png", "/myblock.png");
}
public String Version()
{
return "1.7.2";
}
static
{
myBlock = (new Block(120, 0, Material.rock)).setHardness(1.0F).setResistance(10F).setStepSound(Block.soundStoneFootstep).setBlockName("myblock");
}
}
And the image is: which is called 'myblock.png'. So can someone please help me.
