Yep, and there is a variable called "noclip" you could mess with, if you wanted to make the player walk through walls(the blocks I mentioned), and the invisible block would be super easy... So yeah, thats that. And thanks for the rating.

Making a video game mod for minecraft. Going great. The idea? blocks when clicked open up a minigame that rewards you with ores and such based on your ingame score. Almost finished with beta version, which features a very basic pong game.
Well... Idk for 100% sure, however, I do know how I could do it.
So, as you'll see when I get around to my modloader compatible tutorial, you can name something as a type of material. For instance, ground, wood, and rock. There are a lot of them. 1 of them is air. So you could create a block, and animated it(simularialy to water, but different graphics), and then make your mod create those blocks at certain locations. You could also make an entity. This entity being a tornado. If you want to make an entity, I would suggest you download techne, and you look at prown's, and simo's mob tutorials.

This is great an cannot wait to get it to work. But, unfortunatley it is not working. I get 78 errors trying to recompile the Minecraft_server. I also get 100 errors trying to recompile the Minecraft.jar. I looked at the txt for the batch files and everythign seemed okay, but for some reason it is not working. I have .Net FW, I have the MCP.
I think it is not working because mcp is outdated and needs to re update for 1.5-1.5_01. Any help? I also have javac, and yes, when I go into Command Prompt and type that in a huge list of commands pops up. Thanks for any help?

Edit-
Yup I knew it was out of date :biggrin.gif: Damn, I was so excited to make my own block. I have work in the visual editing feilds but I needed to know what to get into. After I read this I actually read the comments all the way through. But I cant wait till mcp comes out again. Is there any other way to do this without mcp?

Version Outdated. Wait a little bit for the 1.5_01 version to come out.
Yeah, that very well may be the error. And, MCP is pretty much the only way to mod.
Sorry I didn't get answers faster, I am in st george on vaction. Haha. Yeah, I didn't think about all the questions I'd get when I wrote this... I get these, and several PM's. Unlike a lot of people, I pm a lot, and I don't get why it's such a big deal, to some people. I don't ignore messages... Although posting here is convienient, because, thne, other people may have had the same problem and may have posted it here, and this also adds to the responces my tutorial has, so more people look at it. But I will answer PM's.

Thanks again. Yes it was the updating that caused the issue but its better now. I just have one question. How would you make a directory to a texture for "Cloth" Because I saw that Cloth has no j,i Values, It just strings to the very bottom of the list. Err, A second question, How would I be able to make merging blocks like the chest/doublechest.
Well, I'd have to look into that. Idk with the cloth, you'll have to look around. With the merging blocks... Well you could look at chest, or I do believe I have seen some stuff in the portal's script (one of it's classes, I can't remember which), about it testing if the obsidian is in the right spot. You can do somethign simular. NOTE: There are three varaibles that represend coordinates. I can never remember which ones they are. However they are like i, j, and k, or something like that. You'll have to snoop around to find out more. And as for the texture part of the merging, I would suggest you look and sandstones script, because it has sides with multiple different textures. You could put something like this into your block:
if (x+1=thisblock||x-1=thisblock||y+1=thisblock||y-1=thisblock)
{
Change my texture
}
You would frankly have to split up the if, because, you'd need to know which texture to switch to, otherwise you'll change the blocks textures in a wierd way. It wouldn't line up. You could also use a java switch case, but that's not necessary, and I'm not going into that. Look into the tutorials by thenewboston on youtube if you wanna learn that type stuff. (I linked you to the first tutorial in my tutorial during the set up of JDK)

So far so good :smile.gif: This does seem like a faster explanation of how minecraft works and how to mod it :smile.gif: I however so far know how to create blocks and Items but I am looking forward to further tutorials when they come around :smile.gif: 10 's out of 10.

Alright, and if you are still working on the tutorial, how is the modloader tuts coming along?
Well, frankly I've done almost nothing with it...
I tell you what
I just need to sit down for an hour and write it.
So I promise by the day after tomorrow I will have it done. Okayo? I'm not really the best modder in the world, I'm still kinda learning my self, but I know the basics of everything. Included mobs and world gen. So i'll have those eventually, i'm just not sure if there is a bunch of stuff you can do with modloader that I don't know about...
