hey guys, I've read every post and I've seen nothing on my problem;
I force update, run the ZombieCraft installer and the desktop icon appears on my desktop. But it doesn't have the gears saying that it's not .bat. When i click on it says the ZombieCraft desktop shortcut has been changed or moved do I want to delete the shortcut.
What do I do? This makes me feel stupid because I'm probably missing something.
Edit: I saw the post above and ran the .bat as administrator, same thing.

Did you run the .bat as administrator on that account?
If you didn't then check the account you ran it as administator with and check if there is a .bat file on the desktop.
If this still doesn't help, then please tell me.
When I download it it shows up on my desktop but when I open it, it says : "The item "PlayZombieCraft.bat" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?"
WTF???? Please help!!!
I have tried running it as the administrator and nothing happened.
I have the same problem, it says that "The item "PlayZombieCraft.bat" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?"
Will I need to log in AS admin. to install it? or just another user?
I found out that you don't just have to run it as the administrator, you have to log on as the administrator account and play. It started working, then said: Fatal error occurred: null or something like that.... WTF????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For all the people having this problem: running as an administrator will not fix it. I don't know why people keep saying it will. Having elevated privileges won't change the fact that the file in the location the shortcut is referencing ISN'T THERE. (Unless you installed it to somewhere you didn't have permissions... for some reason)
This problem is pretty easy to fix.
1) Re-install, just to be safe, and try to run it again.
2) If you still get the same "The item that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved" error, you will have to navigate to the "C:\Users\*Your user name*\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft" folder.
3)Select either the "ZombieCraftLaunch.jar" (preferable) or "PlayZombieCraft.bat" files, right click on them, highlight "Send To" and click "Desktop (as shortcut)".
***Important*** A likely reason this problem occurs is that, when installing ZombieCraft, you told it the installer to install ZombieCraft to a directory OTHER THAN the folder mentioned above (C:\Users\*Your user name*\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft). If that is the case, follow steps #2 and #3, but replace "C:\Users\*Your user name*\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft" with whichever location you chose to install it to.
Unnecessary info: The installer always sets the shortcut's path as "%APPDATA%\.minecraft". Regardless of where you chose the install folder to be. SO! This will give you the error message: "The item has been... changed or moved", since the shortcut is pointing to "%APPDATA%\.minecraft\PlayZombieCraft.bat", but PlayZombieCraft.bat isn't in the folder "%APPDATA%\.minecraft"; because during installation, you chose for it to be installed in a different directory.
I split the two posts up to make them easier to read and what not.

I had this problem myself, and it's trickier than the last one. I tried a lot of things: re-installing it, running as admin, installing ZC then installing MC over it, renaming minecraft.jar to zombiecraft.jar, and a few other things. None of them worked, and the solution was simpler than most of what I tried. It all stemmed from my not having the most recent version of minecraft.exe from http://www.minecraft.net
To fix (or at least what worked for me):
1) Make sure you delete all of the files from your "C:\Users\*your username*\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft" folder (or whatever your install folder may be).
2) Install a fresh copy of ZombieCraft (As of this posting, most recent version is 1.4.1).
3) Run ZombieCraft and update it. If you're reading this, the updating process will get stalled at 69% (Error (4): null).
4) Close the ZombieCraft window. If you try to run it again and say to continue without updating, it will stall near the end, at "Done Loading".
5) **Important** Download the most recent version of minecraft.exe from http://www.minecraft.net.
Link: http://www.minecraft.net/download.jspYES, THIS MATTERS
6) Run the new copy of minecraft.exe you just downloaded. Log in, and when it asks if you want to update, click yes. Allow it to fully update.
7) Close out of your MineCraft window. At this point, if you try to run ZombieCraft, you won't be asked about updating, but it will still hang up at "Done Loading"
8) FINALLY, install ZombieCraft again (this will be the second time). Install it the same as you did in step #2.
9) After that, when you run ZombieCraft, it won't ask you about updating and it won't stall at "Done Loading". It should work fine!
I don't know why the older versions of minecraft.exe didn't work for me, why the updater throws an error at 69%, or why the loader hangs at "Done Loading" after that, and I don't really feel like looking into it.
The issue stems from your computer not having the java.exe file in your system32 folder, so the function in the batch file can't execute. The newer versions of Java don't put the java.exe into your system32 folder (at least in Windows 7) since it doesn't need it there. It isn't really a problem, though. Just make a shortcut to the .jar instead.
i did everything right, and a little window called "Play ZombieCraft" is on my desktop, but when i click it, a small black window pops up for a second and disappears.

BTW, it was the video that convinced me to get this, thanks to whoever made the video (and obviously to whoever created ZombieCraft).
so i installed zombie craft, i can use the tecture pack.
however when i click the zclauncher.jar, my computer says
check the console for possible error messages.
Help.
I havn't heard this one before. Try reinstalling it, and see if that helps.

But place a link to "zombiecraft.jar" on your desktop, not "playzombiecraft.bat". And make sure Java is installed.
