It's intended for singleplayer, if that's what you're asking.

im doing everything but nothing changes in game, i have mod loader and some mods but they arent there, Meta INF is deleted btw
If the mod came with a folder that says "GUI" or "Item", you need to copy the files into your Minecraft folders with the same names in the .jar. If this doesn't work, and you're sure you did everything correctly, ask on the thread and try to be specific about what's wrong.

I honestly don't follow...
I have XP and did the instructions...
But when I open the file with WinRar then what?
Do I open the WinRar folder that I downloaded(The Mod)
Yes.

Ive done what you said, i got my mod+the mod loader and deleted meta-inf but the mod wont work in the game
It might be an issue with the mod itself. Did it come with a readme?

If I opened the file before-hand, will it still let me open with WinRAR if I exit and go back in?
I am on a windows Vista. I tried opening it before regularly. Now, I have no "Open With..." option, even though I have a WinRAR file, which I think means I already have WinRAR.
Also, the link is broken.
It should, though I'm not sure what you're asking. I'll fix the link.

Erm... i have my mod file into the JAR file and it does not work ingame.... not sure what to do
It might be a problem with the mod. Try cleaning your .JAR file and reinstalling it. If you have other mods installed, these might conflict with it.

When I try to place a mod in my minecraft.jar file, it won't allow me to. Why is this?
Does it show you an error message? And if so, can you paste it in here?

Every time I delete the META-INF folder, and I try to run it, it wont start....Am I doing something wrong?
Are you trying to install mods for Singleplayer or Multiplayer? And what's your OS? This tutorial is mainly for Windows.

edit:
got it fixed..mostly. wiped the file, backed up the saves, put the saves in the new file. now the game loads but when I open up m inventory screen the mod doesn't pop up.
Did you reinstall it? Also if it's TooManyItems, press O and see if that works.

I'm not entirely sure how to install mods for SMP either. When I figure that out, I'll post it in here. I do know you aren't supposed to delete the META-INF file in the Minecraft.jar and that you do need the minecraft.jar and not the .exe file. Did you download and install SDK's ModLoaderMP? I'm pretty sure most mods for SMP will use that.
means that you need to close the program using the file, which in this case, is minecraft.
Ending the java process will work but i find just closing minecraft a tad bit easier.
In all the "Installing mods" tutorials I go to they always say "Back up your saves!". Now I dont wanna sound like a noob but, what the heck does that mean and how do I do it? I've figured out everything BUT this. Help?..

In your minecraft folder before bin there should be a file called saves. That's your world saves, simply right click-> copy on the world you want to back up, and then right click-> paste in a new folder that you want that backup to be in. I would suggest somewhere like your personal files in case you accidently delete your entire minecraft folder

man you just saved me from a lot of trouble. you should get more then a simple you get a whole lot of the flint to burn things and chest to store it in
K, I swear I've done EVERYthing, I think, but when I open Minecraft it just dosen't appear. Here's what I do:
Open .minecraft
Open bin
Right click minecraft (JAR)
Scroll over "Open with"
Click on WinRAR archiver
Open TooManyItems
Drop all files exept readme into minecraft.jar - WinRAR
META folder IS DELETED
Open Minecraft, Singleplayer
Open Inventory, not there, press "o," not there.
What am I doing wrong? Is it this computer? If anyone knows about TooManyItems, help!
Also I have no other mods. And nothing different happens when I open Minecraft, i.e. black screen (that normally happens to me anyway on Far render :tongue.gif:).
That is all I think.
EDIT: One of the nice people on Aurora (In my Sig) helped me out greatly, I found the problem.
