Hey, do you think that you could make an ei.class that uses this file? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17456861/cape.png. I've tried, but I just can't figure it out on my Mac. Thanks!

I have some interesting information for those working on capes! I hope not to derail the thread too much, however I felt that it may be of some importance :3
I've edited bs.java (the Single Player entity class, derived from the Player/ei.class) and with the help of lahwran's Settings API support, you can edit the string through a settings screen in-game!
However, it won't work quite right just yet :\ Due to how the API translates the string. There's a way around this, however...
If you edit the .properties files manually, and add your URL there, you can still change your cape! If you manually edit it, you need to restart the client completely. If I can figure out how to get the settings screen to work a bit better, I'll report in again.
Also, as far as SMP You can edit qi.class for other Players other than yourself. This is great, except... I have no clue how to pull information from another player's client! This actually would probably require some sort of Server mod, anyway. I don't mod for SMP, so it's a bit beyond me!
Someone else might be able to figure out what to do here, though :happy.gif:
Anyway, if anyone's interested in this mod, please respond! I can release it on my own thread, and make the capes a bit more fun!
EDIT I was being silly earlier. The mod actually works fine o.o I managed to change between the Heaven and Hell capes posted here, simply by changing the URL on the in-game settings screen and reloading the world (not the client, as I stated before). Woo! :happy.gif: I'll be posting this on my thread momentarily, so please check it out soon!
When I try to open it with the decompiler I get a file access error saying the file is corrupt..... I fail so bad.....
If your gettting the error message: "File access error, or file does not exist. Check all and try again! Possible reasons: the file ei.class is corrupted" or something similar to that.
You need to either extract the entire minecraft.jar to a folder and open ei.class from there. Or open ei.class from inside minecraft.jar. Do not open ei.class in a folder that does not contain the rest of the .class files.
Make a folder, place all the .class files listed in googie2149's instructions in it and place the ei.class in there. Work from that folder.

Odd. I've never had to do that. I just have the ei.class on my desktop and I compile it there. I would assume he's using Windows 7 while I've only tested this on XP. The decompiler says it's made to work with 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, And maybe one other. It's not too hard to compile a thing, so if needed I can always make it for Uyuxo. But you can always try and experiment!

Yea, with any class file I try to open with DJ java decompiler I get:
"File access error, or file not exists. Check all or try again
Possible reasons: File C:\blahblahblah\ei.class is corrupt"
Either extract the entire minecraft.jar to a folder and open ei.class from there, or open ei.class from inside minecraft.jar. Do not open ei.class in a folder that does not contain the rest of the .class files.
Or even just zip ei.class and open ei.class from inside the zip file.
These are actually Woots instructions for the same error.
Sure. It'll be in the contest post when I finish, so keep pressing F5!
