BUMP in case anyone is interested in disabling biome coloured grass.
Going to sleep now.
yes thanks, i hate what the update does to grass!! if it would cover the side bit of grass too i could probably live with it, but as it is now it annoys me way too much.
Because the sides of the grass block don't match up with the top. With my OCD, this causes me extreme amounts of mental anguish. On top of all that, the area around my house had yellowish brown grass and it looked like garbage.
Working on my own color scheme, since the new color scheme is absolutely hideous. However, instead of disabling the gradient of colors, I'm working with it.

In the beginning, Notch created the Nether and the Earth, and in it he made a man of sand and called him Steve. Notch made Steve strong so that he may punch wood, and lo, Steve was to have dominion over all square things.

I find it kind of... a waste to have a file hosted for a plain white file.
The best way to do this, is to just do it your self.
But what ever floats your boats.
Yea, we might just run out of space on the internetz
Any way,
Quite a simple fix, actually :tongue.gif: But To still have the sides of the grass coloured, as intended, I think notch should layer the side texture. So, grass blocks have a (biome-colored) grass top, And the sides consist of 2 layers:
1- Dirt
2 - Grass overlay, with the biome color.
That should fix it... And, as far as I can see, that should be very possible.
This is how I figured he would do it.
Unfortunately, I'm not a coder :/
Notch should just take the six minutes out of his day to fix this, lol.

It didn't work. The top color is SUPPOSED to be the same color as the other sides of it, but it's still tinted green. Is there any way to keep that from happening?
Then, place this grasscolor.png into minecraft.jar\misc\ (<-- Click for link)
Mirror (Right Click and select Save As)
Now the sides of grass tiles should match up with the grass colour again. Temporary fix until Notch figures out how to solve this.
I've decided to keep biome coloured leaves as an indicator of the type of biome I'm in.
Pics for comparison.

Whenever I try to open it, it gives me an error.

You really didn't have to bump a year-old thread just to ask that.
