To ensure the people will stop asking if the server is up or when it will be up:
The server will be up when things are finished. If you absolutely want to play Minecraft go look at other servers, this one is still in the preparation phase, and might not be up by Friday. I will link and official launch post when things are finished and when we're taking people.

Journal of Friar William Fletcher
Entry 13
I, Friar William Fletcher stood aboard the ship, New Dawn and saw opportunity, a chance to spread the good word of Manat and maybe even make some coin while there. I remember it had been over three months ago when the Divine Council called for me to go and spread the good news to the non-believers of the new world. Truthfully I just wanted to be left alone and I saw this as my only chance, after all it took many months of treacherous seas and many lost suppers to reach the new lands. Myself along with my good friend Brother Julius and a anonymous monk named Brother Gaspar all have been chosen to go to the unknown lands and report back to the church on what we find, I don't trust Brother Gaspar that much but at least I have Brother Julius, and that's all I care about right now... and spreading the word of Manat of course, anyway, might write soon, there's a whole world of opportunity and I'm not gonna miss it.
Entry 18
Everything is going well, we have gotten through a wild storm and now have calm waters and a good wind in our sails. We almost lost one of the other 3 ships following us, the Black Falcon I believe and one of the smaller ships had to turn back before the storm so now there is only 3 ships left, I pray we will make it with at least 2.
Entry 20
Something bad has happened, one of the crew members came down with an illness and now over half of the crew, the captain and Brother Julius are sick, we have been forced to quarantine the uninfected crew in the mess. I pray every day for them and that we will make it, but for now we just have to stay healthy.
Entry 21
A man just died today, a big man named Stefan and it seems more will follow, its been almost 5 months and still Manat has not given us sight of land, and more are getting sick by the day.
Entry 25 (Written in frantic text)
IT'S UNBELIEVABLE! ONE OF THE CREW HAS GONE INSANE, HE THINKS THE ENTIRE SHIP IS INFECTED WITH A SICKNESS THAT WAS SEEMING TO DIE DOWN! HE SET FIRE TO THE BLOODY SAILS HALF OF THE CREW IS MISSING ALREADY AND THE SHIP IS ABLAZE, NO SIGN OF JULIUS OR GASPAR! WE HAVE TO ABANDON SHIP! ABANDON SHI-
Entry 27
I have been two days since the ship sunk and we all went adrift, there is 24 in total, over 50 missing, no sign of Brother Julius or the other boats, just us...alone.
Entry 34
It seems this journal will be the final will and testament of William Fletcher, Friar of the Holy Church of Manat the Creator,
It's been four days and almost everything is gone, I have counted over and over and there is still 24 of us,Brother Gaspar decided to take some of the crew and try to find some help while the rest of us stayed behind in this other boat... that was two days ago. Still no sign of Brother Julius or of the other boat, everyone seems to be losing hope and many have asked me to pray for them, (to think I wasn't already). Already I see dark clouds on the horizon, there's a storm coming.
Entry 35 (Half smudged and unreadable, best attempts at translation)
The clods are getti closer I m praying even harder now... I fear the raft will brak apart and we will l drown withut anyone realizing... this wasn th way I wished to die but if Noch cals me home then I wil go... This is Fri Wiliam Fletc ning of.
[No further entries were found, Journal of Friar William Fletcher was found washed up on shore by a search party, no other evidence of the New Dawn, her crew, the lifeboats or of the other group of survivors were ever found. Friar William Fletcher, Brother Julius Maximus and Brother Gaspar Endir were chosen by the Divine Counsel to become Saints for the Church.]

We're going through the final phase of preparation of Iron Storm, which is a few more things.
The Iron Storm staff will be discussing some final things tomorrow, Thursday at the latest, if no one manages to make the discussion tomorrow. I know I've been behind on giving some updates for the development of the server, and I would like to say that we've been busy working our tails off creating ruins and exploration zones for people to explore.

When the 1.8 update comes, you have to remove NPC villages
You're thinking WAY to far into the future. At the moment we won't be worrying about the 1.8 update. However, when we get to it, it shouldn't exactly stand in our way, so-to-speak.
