with all the rain hate i'd like to see one of you, play super hostile canopy carnage its 24/7 rain.
I'm not hatin' on the rain, I like rain, what I don't like is thunderstorms so often you can't even go cut down one tree without getting blown up, shot at, mauled, bitten, etc.
As for the map change, I fully support it. With MoveCraft enabled it would be kind of like when navigation became so much easier and people started sailing out to all corners of the world, it would be an age of exploration of sorts. It would also make faction politics a bit more interesting since defaul MC maps have more varied terrain. If you had a steep mountain range with a small valley cutting through it, you could set up your capital in the valley and basically control trade that passes through there. As for not being able to use boats as much, it's not much of a loss in my opinion seeing as airships can travel over water just as easily.

We are trying to make sure it was the map and not something else.
Those who was on last night helped us locate this issue very late in the evening early morning so I'm now trying to see if it is something both me and Vorlock can fix.
The issue we are having is due to the water level / depth of the ocean.
So, presumably light passes through a certain amount of water before completely dissipating. In the test 1 the light dissipates before reaching h=31, whereas in test #2 the light reaches h=31 and therefore causes lag.
If we can not find a way to fix this issue the only option would be to switch to a new map.
Are you going to release the seed? Personally, I wouldn't, otherwise players could go on single-player and scout for good locations, but I guess that's the other player's loss for not. What do you think?
-EDIT-
Also, does any group of people want to band together to be a wandering society of ninjas (or something along that line). In other words, let's make a merc camp. Anyone with me?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Please learn how to use google. My grandfather knows how to, I think you can too.
Since I guess we're getting rid of the world map now, we need to go on a major search for an EPIC seed. Im talking like crazy stuff. A seed the likes of which have never been witnessed.

Odds are we will not have the server open today for testing. We are going to switch everything to a new map which means setting up everything once again from the ground up.
The good news is if everything goes as expected we will be dropping this thread and starting a new thread with game rules, plugin commands and finally offer players an application.
So please bear with us as we work things out.
Also before anyone bails ship here...
We are only 10 days into this "project". So regardless of this recent set back with the map, we are ahead of schedule.
I guess you can say since we found this bug out now, it actually saves us alot of issues that could have been disastrous down the line.
Well at least there's an explanation for me, I've been trying to connect all day and I just got bored with a world after about two hours, that's a new record for me, so I seriously need a dynamic world to work with. Very excited to be able to explore a new world, I can't wait.
Same thing for me, since Aerogale, any other server has been really boring for me. But lucky for me, I won a free copy of Terraria yesterday :smile.gif:

They've told me no mercs...:tongue.gif:, imma start a great faction then.
ERIES:
Aren't you sure the light issue was due to the time being set to daylight? I remember reading somewhere that when it' set to that the map is slightly lighter then the regular mid-day time setting. Which could be the cause?

More power to you!
Currently we have 4 factions created.
2 are player factions and 2 are Admin factions.
The Largest Faction atm is MOP with 5 members.
Next is Twilinians with only 1.
Everyone else has just been exploring or checking things out.
The two Admin Factions are
Templars - Vorlock's faction.
Warlord - Mine. I consider it more of a Title than a faction though =D
Also we stopped setting the time once we had a steady flow of people on and playing.
Plus it was only lagged at area near the ocean. Everywhere else including the spawn was lag free.
We also had squids turned off because of how many could spawn in the sea.
:edit:
BTW...
Since we had to restart from scratch today and catch up to where we was yesterday...
I did not create many NPC vendors.
So if you all will make a list of items you would like to see we will go through it and see about setting up the npcs...
AND I am currently looking for a way for me to get into being able to play with you all as well. This whole non combat deal is making me bored and not really in the mood of building anything since there is no threat of it being destroyed.

Get sign shops. I believe I mentioned it, it goes along with the lockette mod (maybe) and it involves no NPCS. only a right click on sign system. And if you set it to admin shop the stock is infinite, while at the same time players can have their own shops.
Totally blanked on the name..though it goes:
Player name (first line of sign)
# sold per click (second line)
#:# (first number is how much buyer pays for the the previously mentioned amount and second is how much person gets if they sell it to shop. Can be set to 0 if only wanting to buy or sell.
Item name (Self explanatory)
Or put admin for the name to make infinite stock. It's really simple and effective system...with no npcs.

As soon as I figure out how to get MC working on this Asus EeePC I'll log in.

Sign shops would not work at the spawn neither would lockette. Also we are not having issues with creating shops. Only wish to get input from players on what they would like to see sold, or bought from vendors.

and on second thought I'll grab Australia...or some big ass desert.
EDIT: wasn't there a map download?
