768mb VPS Server for $20/mo seems like to much...you can get dedicated non VPS hosts cheaper than that I believe.
Actually our costs are on par or below usual market cost for VPS systems, whether they're Minecraft related or not. If you're referring to a shared environment type host, then yes there are cheaper plans available but a VPS affords you more flexibility to do with the system what you please.. whether you want to install monitoring software, MySQL, a webserver or voip chat application.. a VPS allows that freedom.
Been on Minecraft.cm for about a week now and having the freedom of a VPS is great. Awesome customer service combined with excellent server performance, can't beat that. Especially if you need a hosting solution that is capable of much more than just simply hosting a Minecraft server.

$20 is your lowest price?!? I can get better hosting for way cheaper.
Thanks for the feedback... but if you haven't used our services how do you know you can get "better"? Perhaps you're thinking "different" - with a host like Brohoster, for example?
Our clients are, obviously, very happy with our service and their servers performance.
Keep in mind, our services are different than some hosts, Brohoster for example. The 768M RAM you get with us runs the OS, Java and any other services you'd like to run.. ie: TeamSpeak, Vent, Mumble, Apache, MySQL - So that amount of RAM isn't solely for Minecraft - which is why our limit suggestions are lower... but they are still just suggestions.
Hey I just ordered a Tier 2 server, and I need help installing Bukkit, and creating a script to restart, stop and start my server.
Hey there, we received your support ticket you submitted 10 or so minutes ago and have responded with the answers to your questions. If you have any further questions or need further assistance please do reply to the ticket through your client area or by responding to the email that was sent. :smile.gif:
Hi, I have no idea how to do anything for a minecraft server myself except install plugins, and I was wondering how confusing a Minecraft.cm server would be for me? Apparently I am very spoiled being used to dedicated server hosts with control panels and FTP access.

Lakart, running a server on a VPS through SSH/SFTP is not all that difficult, to be honest. It's quite helpful if you're familiar with the using the Linux OS through command line, but it is by no means a requirement. We've helped quite a few of our customers learn the ropes of running a server this way, even some who had absolutely no previous Linux experience at all. The benefits of running a server on a VPS is that you are not 'restricted' to only running Minecraft.. and I quote 'restricted' because it isn't necessarily a restriction to all. Some of our servers are used for not only Minecraft but running a small website for the server, running MySQL, Mumble/TS/Vent and many other applications available. This is the way that some people prefer to run their servers, others are more comfortable with a control panel and buttons to click for most all task, it's really up to you to weigh the options and see if it'd be a good fit. The guide that PhonicUK wrote about choosing the right host is a great way to see if this would be the right thing for you and your server... and if you have any questions please feel free to write us at [email protected] :smile.gif:

Hello what control panel are you guys using?Any screenshots? Thanks!
Ineeda - At this time we are not running any control panels, we offer unmanaged VPS systems - but you are absolutely welcome to install whichever control panel you'd like.. from McMyAdmin to MCDash, you have the freedom to do that with our servers. :biggrin.gif:
I'm looking at purchasing a tier 1 server. The price seems very reasonable, as the last thing I was considering was an amazon box of about the same specs for 40 dollars more.

How long does it take to set up after payment?
Is the .jar editable so we can install mods?
Is bukkit required?
How many player do you recommended for each tier?

The servers are usually provisioned within minutes of payment - we do a quick fraud check and you're off to the races.
You have full, 100% control over the entire OS on your VPS, meaning you can edit/mod/change any aspect of the game you'd like. You can run other applications, as well.. there's a ton of info on how to do some awesome things with a Linux VPS/Server - and of course, we're always here to help. Most all "mods" that require editing the jar file directly, though, are single player mods which are not compatible with SMP. There are a couple that you do edit the minecraft_server.jar file with, but not many.
No, bukkit is not a requirement. You set up your server however you please.

Alright, thank you for getting back to me so quickly!
But I have one more question.
I'm looking at your order page and it's talking about different OS's you can choose. I've never had any experience with OS's for the most part and I'm wondering if one of the ones listed is better for beginners?
