I am at Minecon Orlando at the moment, in my hotel room. We are staying in the HYATT hotel. We are at the moment trying to play Minecraft in our hotel rooms, but it won't work. The internet works fine . We asked the people at the lobby, and called the ICT guys, they said the game was the problem. we asked around other people going to Minecon, and they can't play Minecraft either. I hope they will fix this, because we are on Minecon to play Minecraft, and we are pretty bored in our hotel rooms at the moment. PLEASE reply if you haave a solution! Thanks, and have a good minecon!
are you playing on a server or using a local area conenction?
If your on a sever get the admin to change the port to something that's not blocked... tho they might just be putting everything through a proxy in which case your out of luck..

Update: During the Taking a Look at Minecraft Realms Panel, Leonard Axelsson (@xlson) said they were also having connection issues @ the convention center (Mojang servers DDOS protection).

Usally on hotel public wifi they block local connections that are connected to the same network. Same thing here. How did I fix it? I connected my PC to another network
Wow you were awake enough to even try? I worked Friday (but left early) and spend the rest of the day flying down from New England. Arrived at the hotel at midnight and went right to sleep. Woke up pretty early on Saturday to be at the front of the line for registration and left Universal pretty early out of pure exhaustion. Finally have some free time now after everything is over.
Certainly not going to play now, but I just checked and Minecraft seems to be working just fine at the Days Inn down the street from OCCC.

Hyatt Orlando is using "SolutionIP FLEX" for the WiFi management, can be bypassed by configuring a VPN:
Hotel Wifi (SSID=Hyatt Regency Guestroom) > Travel router (with VPN settings) > Travel router (SSID=Minecon) > 2 x Laptops (can login/play minecraft) + 2 x Android tablets + 2 x Phones =

You have got to be kidding me...
I doubt that Hyatt hotel was made for "MineCon"
