I'm going! but sadly by myself although there will thousands of Minecraft fans to meet!
I saw some people asking about transportation around Orlando. I don't know about anyone else but I almost wanted to rent a car but then I found out about I Ride Trolley which is a bus system along International Drive which is a major tourist area for that part of Orlando. Fares are only $1.50 per ride or you can also buy day passes which have unlimited rides.
I'm naturally shy while not on the net and will have a hard time understanding spoken english (I can follow most youtubers fine but if they speak too quickly like many people I won't catch everything), but a real meeting at the Minecon would be fun (for safety reason here, it should be at least 18yrs and over or 21 and over if we plan on meeting at a bar or something like that) I'm 33 and have Autism Asperger Syndrome so you might be a little surprised by some of my reactions, but I've never killed anyone that wasn't a Minecraft mob outside of virtual world (until now at least, just joking here, I don't bite either...)
Dude, don't worry! I'm sure you will have a great time at Minecon. A fan meetup sounds good too, but I haven't really looked into any bars or attractions around the area yet. I agree with the age limit which btw I'm 30.
haha screw hotels. Im camping XD
i mean its FLORIDA. it will just be nice to get out of ohio lol.
You're nuts, no offence lol! Do you know how hot and humid it gets in the south?! I live in the New Orleans area which is further North than Orlando and it's been in the mid to upper 90's almost a week here and the humidity is another thing. I know know the convention is in November, but who knows what the weather will be, hopefully there's a front that moves through at the time so it can be cooler.
I'll be there with my brother and cousin, not sure yet but we might have to rent a car (my cousin has a driver license and wouldn't have any problems renting a car) for the hotel to be cheaper and have easy access to the Orange County Convention Center where the Minecon is located, we found a great deal at a Quality Suites (not booked yet), but its on the other side of the I4, judging by the configuration, it would take us more than 45minutes of walk, then catch a bus to get us to the OCCC which would be a pain in the ass. We look for hotels around the OCCC but they are more expensive than we could afford, I want something around max 60$ a night ideally, I don't care if it doesn't have full service, only need free wifi, and a free breakfast (not a continental one) and ideally a place where we could have a 3rd bed in the room that is confortable (so exclude the hide-a-bed that are crappy usually kids jumped on most of them so much bad experience with theses, my back hurts just to think about them...)
How'd you get some? Tickets sold out a few days ago. Oh, and definitely not me. I tried all three batches and they sold out each time. But I mean, it's a convention for a video game. Didn't lose much there.

haha of course, i was born in Orlando actually. I've camped there before and you are right, it does get unbearable but in November, it should be more bearable. -_^

For the non Floridians here. It's hot here but what will kill you is the Humidity. You can hang a wet towel outside under the sun its still takes 5 hours to dry. November is nice here, Florida (South Florida doesn't really get cold at all only Jan-March you need to wear sometimes a Sweatshirt. No snow here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_in_Florida

Actually at least in january 2001 I was there with a family I was babysitting their kids and I wished I had my winter stuff with me, one morning the parking of the Hotel was covered with ice and we could see some snow on the grass, it was around 30°F and the max we reached I think was around 50°F during the afternoon, pretty cold I would say, I know its really rare but it can happen, also since we are going in November which is low season there, we could have a ty weather (that's why its the low season) with rain every day during the event and the week after.

sorry need to correct you the rain season is in the Summer (right now). It rains for 10-40 min every day and than it stops, back to sunshine. At the same time is Hurricane season is from June- to November. Uhhhh mite get windy Tourists XD . Most Hurricanes I been thou (worst was Andrew Aug 1993 i think) wasn't that bad. But the rain always last for a bit . Never all day. Reference: Born and raised in Miami FL

Yea, lot's of day time showers in the south during the summer, but I wouldn't say it happens everyday and if they do occur it's very short. As for hurricanes, having a disturbance in the gulf and/or Atlantic in November is very rare. In fact, for the past three years Florida has not been directly affected by major hurricanes during the month of November. I really think the weather will be pleasant and there will not be any /toggledownfall
I BARELY was able to get tickets in the third batch. i live less then 2 hours from Orlando. and my friend's parents own a timeshare at a resort less then 3 min away from the convention center. so ill be chillin at a resort =^-^= gonna be SWEET.
I am going and I am really curious about 21+ stuff. I am going with my boyfriend and a friend. So we are all up for chatting with other players. Plus we are night people too!
We need to start a new topic and pick a place when closer.
The Diamond Party at $200 a pop seems really high. But there are more people going so maybe the price will be lower. I will wait to hear from Mojang!
I'm Ohio as well! Where you flying out of?
