Okay seriously. What's the best way for me to get from the airport to either the OCCC or a nearby hotel? My hotel does not run a shuttle.
I will be getting into Orlando about 11am, so I'll have plenty of hours to figure this out once I get there... but I'd rather not pay $25 for a taxi if there is a widely accepted way of doing this.
My first time in Orlando. Obviously. Thanks for any ideas!
If your hotel is on International Drive, there's Lynx bus system, the bus you're looking for is the 42, its on the same area that hotel shuttles are but on the far right of them, you can't miss it, be advised that if you have a load of luggage, the drivers are free to refuse to let you board the bus, but since this particular one is at the airport they are less strict on that policy, they never turned me down in the past... (been there 4 times already) will be there at 10h40pm, quite late to help you out, but if my plane landed around same time as yours, I would gladly help you out...
You can probably take a Disney shuttle, they're probably close to the convention center.
Bad idea, Disney is nowhere near the OCCC, take a look on google maps, plus you need a Disney Hotel reservation voucher to take their shuttles from the airport...

Like Dodge34 mentioned above about using the local public transportation via the Lynx Bus IF your hotel is along International Drive. It's only $2.00(must have exact change) one way. The 42 bus takes you from Orlando International Airport all the way through I-Drive. The downside is there are many stops along the way and it will take over an hour most likely and like Dodge34 mentioned about the luggage they might deny you from riding if you're carrying too much or huge luggage bags. From what I read on various forums since it is a bus running out from the airport the bus drivers expect some luggage aboard the bus but again you can take that chance.
There is even a faster route than taking the 42 bus which is the 111 bus which also takes off from the airport and has less stops along the way BUT this one you will need to take a transfer at Destination Parkway and get on the 42 bus which which loops back through I-Drive from the south. I am taking this option since I am staying at the Rosen Plaza right next to OCCC. If you choose this route make sure you let the first bus driver know you are going to transfer so you don't have to pay another $2.00 for next bus. I used Google Maps to estimate the bus route times and this was the fastest one. Oh forgot to mention the reason why I am choosing this is because I am volunteering for Minecon and I am scheduled to report in for 1pm tomorrow and my flight comes in for 11:10am. I am taking a risk of missing that 111 bus since it departs for 11:30 so I only have about 20 mins to get off the plane and hurry to the bus. If I miss it my fallback plan is getting a taxi.
Thanks so much guys. Between 2 of us, we'll have 2 laptop bags, 2 checked bags, and a minecart rail made of cardboard. Hopefully we'd be allowed. I guess if not it's over to the taxi line.
I wonder if they'd let me pay $2 more per bag and put them in a seat. Lol

Hmm, never thought of paying an extra $2 to take up another seat! At first I was gonna take a 24" tall rolling suitcase, a backpack and a laptop bag but I have cut it down to just a backpack. I don't want to pay for a checked bag which I think is a complete ripoff. Then there's a chance of it going missing or being abused by bag loaders and don't have to deal with baggage claim after flight.
BTW, @ Coconut, you said your flight comes in for 11am , it wouldn't happen to be an American Airlines flight from Miami would it? I have a layover there before I get to Orlando on Friday morning.

Nope. sorry. Flying southwest direct from NH. So Im not paying extra for my checked bags.
We booked a round trip shuttle to and from the airport, although not sure if you were talking about the Minecon shuttle or shuttles in general. If you just got there and don't have that planned out yet, hop on a taxi.
