Okay, people who say, "just make more tickets, they will make more money", you are wrong, Mojang loses money when they have a Minecon, meaning they put more money into it then they get out.
It is for the Fans, and showing the community what is next for Minecraft. Not for a profit.

Well its not a surprise that it costs more to put this on than they make because of the quality of the event. Some events do make money, but in this case they try to keep the tickets low enough to offset the price of putting on the event, but it doesnt completely cover the expenses.
I think the people that comment that minecon is too expensive need to get a job, it only costs $150 for the whole thing. Plus if you can convince them youre under 3 years old you can get in for free!
Anyway, the whole thing will be shown on a live stream so just stay tuned for that if youre not one of the lucky 7500.
I know, Minecon is a really hard thing to set up but the thing is; to the amount of people who pay for tickets it's kind of also worth it. Also it gives them more publicity and not just a company that makes a game. Mojang is one of the companies that actually care about the fans. This is why they set up Minecon. So the fans can have something every year to enjoy that was planned by Mojang.
Well the reason they cannot create more tickets was because a few days after I bought my tickets I was going to buy some more for the fellow workers of my YouTube channel and I was going to give away 10 tickets for my subscribers. Well after I bought the tickets for my Co- Workers I started to read their news and they said they were shooting for 7,500 people so they would be able to actually be able to interact and socialize with a fewer amount of fans than say around 10,000. The problem is though Minecraft has been growing rapidly for the past three years growing more and more fans so if they hold these events at suck a rare occasion which is yearly there will be more and more people talking about then trying to get tickets. They even lowered the minimum age of people who can be by themselves from 16 to 13 so now there can be more tickets reserved for fans instead of parents.
You do realize it does not cost them money. It is an expense for publicity and media. It is normal for companies to hold events. You are kinda naive to think they do this out of the goodness of their hearts. I mean, I am not saying they are mean or cruel or something. Companies do this all the time. It is good for them. Just part of doing business. And if it is a success then everyone will have a great time!

Mojang takes Minecon at a loss. They lose more money than they put into it. It has been this way since 2011. You can say what you want about "publicity" or "media", but Minecon has always been about the fans.

Well of course, but the only people who care about Minecon are Minecraft players. Meaning they are only advertising to their own fan base. What company wouldn't do that? You can read Marc's tweets. And other Mojang officials, they all say they run Minecon at a loss. The point of going to Minecon is to see what is next for Minecraft, and meet other Minecrafters. And of course you can buy toys and such. So if you want to say in the end they make money on this then yes, they do. But how much. It is for the fans, why else. To show the fans Minecraft, and all their other games. To show the media what is next, so the media will tell the fans what is next for Minecraft. And if you think about it, i doubt Minecraft would be any less popular if Minecon didn't exist.
I seriously doubt that they are loosing money. They have millions of players all over the world. Thousands more want to go! This is all for publicity. Smh. The YouTubers alone such as Sky, Toby, etc would bring in droves of people. You can't tell me that they didn't know that if those tickets would be sold out. Of course they knew! Anytime companies hold conventions the city starts drooling because of the money it can and will generate. Besides, who goes to something like this and NOT spend money! yall may disagree but I say they should open up another batch and allow more people to come!
