You can tell a few things from the article and the responses. First you can tell the youngsters from the older players. The older players are the ones who realize that Jeb has been doing almost all the work on the game lately. Second, you can tell who read and didn't read the whole article. More then half the questions were answered in the article.
Let's all be honest here, we needed Jeb to take control of the game. Look at the stuff that notch has been adding and even look at the games he is developing now, scolls and cobalt. It is obvious that he has begun to lose his creativity and is now better off just tweeting, playing other games and letting his employees build the games.
Well, that was.... unexpected. But Jeb has been doin' most of the work. Now we might get fish models! Congrats jeb :biggrin.gif: And to the people that says notch is leaving, i believe the post says that he's still on the the team. He's just not lead designer anymore.
Look guys, don't say you aren't going to play Minecraft anymore because Jeb has taken over. Honestly, is it that big of a deal? When a new government official takes office, do you disassociate yourself with your nation, state, province or city? No. So what's the big deal? As if Minecraft will deplete in quality! Psssh.
I have faith Jeb will do great things with Minecraft. As a modder, I'm really glad to hear about an official Mod API, and I appreciate that he acknowledges the all things mods and modders bring to Minecraft.
It's not like Notch won't have any say in anything, he just won't be typing the code personally. Think of it like Steve Job's transition. Maybe in this way, the game will get converted from Java to C a whole lot quicker.
I expected this would happen after Minecon. Took a little longer than I thought, but good for the game none the less.
I agree with Jeb that the mod api needs to be priority #1. This community has lots of creative minds, and while we already have mcp/modloader/modloadermp/bukkit, having a proper api in place can only make things better.
WHAT. 0.o Notch.... baby come baacckkkk...... you can blame it all. on. me *COUGH* YOGSCAST *COUGH* *COUGH ALSO TOLLS *COUGH* *COUGH I LIEK CHIKKEN *COUGH*

But if Jeb is now free to add a mod API, then I suppose this is INFINITELY better.
You just lost The Game.
Notch, you will be remembered for bringing Minecraft to its full release.
Jeb, good luck for having this responsibility.

Jeb FTW! Totally my favorite dev anyways. Cool guy <3
P.S. Please keep the dragon ideas in planning, Jeb!
The same reaction I had when I found this out.
