Fix bugs? Work on the modding API? Remove the terrible internal server for SSP?
NAH
LET'S ADD STUPID SECRET CRAP
AND WORK ON THE UGLY VILLAGERS TO MAKE THEM DO SOMETHING THAT CAUSES MORE LAG
Jeb is an idiot and should have never been put in charge of minecraft.
1. Every single update has had multiple bug fixes
2. Many of the changes are specifically to move us towards supporting plug-ins..
- Combined SMP/SSP code base - this was specifically don't to made updates and patches easier
- Lots of internal changes for managing block and item IDS.. (required for plug-ins)
- village code had to be refactored to get ready for more plug-in changes - while doing that they would be crazy to not tweak the AI and add features that make sense and are low-hanging-fruit
3. Early snapshots are never optimized, nor should they be. It is a waste of time to optimize code that is in flux. That is a task that should take place between the last true snapshot and the release candidate.
In my opinion anyone who comes to the forums just to personally insult the developers should be banned. Your comments about what you do not like in regards to the game are welcome but when you are rude and insulting you will be dismissed and ignored.
Insulting developers or other forum users should not be tolerated.
Anyone else experiencing major drops in FPS when the game generates new chunks? In last week's snapshot I'm getting an average of 45 FPS and in this one it drops to 20... Unbearable. I hope they'll fix it.
same for meI think there is a bug to do with Item rendering in the world that makes thing invisible
In the next snapshot dirt and fences will give off redstone signals too
can you give us a link as to why you think this? also that just sounds really stupid. as in most redstone will be broken. i mean you would have to change a ton of stuff if you built a redstone device with dirt and fences...
The update that bugged the world.
I haven't my chest things D:
it tells you the snapshots are unstable. right now they are still in the ealy stages of this update. in a couple of weeks it should be a lot more stable. also it says you should back up your words. i just make new worlds for the snapshots
Am I the only one that thinks that at least the wire of the tripwire should be invisible? If the wire was invisble, tripwire traps would be musch easier to hide.
I wish they could breed after getting crops, because i never saw a Villager breed!
Am i the only one that thinks this is the start of the Villager Uprising? They'll soon build houses!
It is about time they get smarter. Those villagers have a whole city on my server and instead of walking around and using the houses they all go in 1 house in a corner of my village leaving the rest of the village behind as a ghost city
Ah yes, that's very important too! Let the Villager Uprising start!

If it was invisible, how would you break it? I do agree though, it shouldn't take up a whole layer of a block, the hitbox should be like that of torches.

Speaking as an actual PC player, I think it's abhorrent that they've intentionally gone out of their way to destroy advanced iron farms. It's unprecedented and unnecessary.

People who intentionally desecrate a language are no different than griefers who tear things down because they are too immature and undisciplined to create, so instead they destroy out of jealousy.
1. Yes, I know that the village farms belong to the village, and the player coming along and taking them is stealing. No one said we have to play a good guy. (I just saw Wreck-It Ralph :-).
2. Either the farmers are going to maintain a community chest, that all villagers can use when hungry / wanting to breed, or the farmers should leave the crops in the ground, fully grown, until someone is hungry / wants to breed.
3. When someone is hungry/breedable, then either they get something out of the community chest, or they tell the farmers, who harvest/replant for them. This means that villagers leave "food ready to eat" (FRE?) in the ground until eaten.
4. If you come along, and raid the fields in such a situation, then you are starving/delaying the village, and making it take longer for them to breed.
5. Farmers should be smart enough to plant different things in their rows. Right now, a 2x7 field of the same material is a horrible way to farm. Changing the farm layout from 2x7, water, 2x7, to water, 4x7, with each row a different crop will more than double the production rate (double the outer two, and more than double the inner two). Basic, simple, intelligent change to the farming layout.
6. At the same time, going from a row of water to a single water would be even smarter -- as would changing the "large" farm (currently two 5x7's with a center strip, total 11x7) to a 9x7 (fits in the same frame, with spare space) or a 9x9 (needs a slightly larger frame, but about the same total space).
7. There is no good way to distinguish "This farm plot belongs to the village" versus "This farm plot belongs to the players". Not only can a player build next to a village, or even build their own farms, that will become "part of" the village, but the players might want to build farms for the villagers. So "shared farming" is really the norm, not the exception. This means that either "harvest only when needed", or "harvest and store in chest" has to be the normal behavior. Not the exception.
Yes, number 7 implies that village brown-robe farmers are effectively harvest golems, *Or they have to leave stuff in the ground until someone has a need for the food*.
I don't see a good other option.
If you don't want villagers to be auto-harvesters for players, then "leave it in the ground until needed" has to be the behavior pattern.
As long as farms are no longer "decoration", but "active part of village growth", then there is no reason not to make them smarter / no reason to leave them as bleepy as they currently are.

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

I was being sarcastic, I just think it's ridiculous that item frames of all things will become redstone devices while there are still so many better things they could be working on, like, oh I don't know, the modding API. Or better textures for the new stone. Or more enemy mobs, finally. Or a dozen and a half other things. I appreciate what they do, but these latest updates just feel like they're stalling on something.
Looks like terrain gen has changed - my witch hut setup is now filling up with regular mobs. Super appreciate the heads up in the changelog on this one...
