When I was nine, my brother found it, and I thought it was dumb at first...
waking up in the middle of the night changed my mind.
Now, I wasn't supposed to be on the computer in the middle of the night, so I left the light off so as not to get caught, and misspelled the name I was going for: pianoplayer.
I've used it ever since, becuase its such a dumb screw-up that no one uses it.
The name that I use for Minecraft (and most other places on the internet) is based on the main character I came up with for an original novel/manga idea that I've let fall by the wayside. Hikaro Takayama, or Takayama Hikaro (高山飛火郎) to use the traditional Chinese/Japanese naming order, was a ronin in an alternate earth around AD 1500, but with fantasy creatures being real (both Tolkeinesque as well as those based on other fantasy traditions, particularly those of Japan and China). This caused a number of fairly major changes in the historical/geo-political makeup of the era. For one thing, most of the first part of the story takes place in the Seiryuu Kingdom, which is in what would now be SE China. The kingdom was originally a land grant to Japanese Ronin (and, Wakou) as well as German Crusaders/Mercenaires from the Song Dynasty as payment for fighting off the Mongolian Hordes under Genghis Khan (and to help re-populate the devastated Eastern Provinces that were virtually wiped out in the fighting).
This action of granting land to "Foreign Devils" caused a civil war in China about 250 years prior to the beginning of the story, causing China to split into the Northern Ming State and Southern Song Kingdom. About 50 years after that, the Southern Song Dynasty was overthrown by a shadowy clan of evil sorcerers known as the T'ang Ch'i (湯池), which caused the mostly ethnic Japanese & German Eastern Provinces to rebel and form the Seiryuu Kingdom (青龍王国). The story is mainly how Hikaro and his ronin band, the Rokunin Zoku (六人族 = "Six Man Clan") get embroiled in a plot by the T'ang Ch'i to bring down the Seiryuu Kingdom from the inside....
I might have to see about trying to finish up the story someday, but that's how I picked my name... I figured that it would be unique enough that nobody else was likely to have it...
My name came from a much older name "BurgerTown". This name originated from the small burger restaurant in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's map Terminal. I used that name for a while but it didn't really fit. 1 and half years later, when I started playing Battlefield 3, I joined a Battlefield 3 clan as BurgerTown, eventually everyone called me "Burger" for short. After about 2 months of playing with the same clan a new person joins, he's pretty good and we usually team up. Since I was kinda like his mentor in the clan he called me the "Burger Guru". I liked the name and just for fun I mashed it up kinda weirdly into "Burgru" by mistake missing out the U from "guru". That name has stuck to me for 2 years now and I love it.
Some names I went by for a short amount of time that just didn't stick: "WhatTheFrag", "SuperFrag" and "Gyr0".
my name is thenoobfart123 which is weird but i got the name from the noob adventures and combined fart garfle( i think u spell it like that) and noobly and then my brain came up with... well, thenoobfart123

My name comes from a childhood nickname, still occasionally used by my dad's side of the family. In the interests of anonymity, I will say only that the first syllable of my name is "kill", which would lead to an obvious nickname, but my mother decided that my father was not allowed to call me "killer", so he settled on "killer bee", shortened to just "bee". (This was actually not the only insect-related nickname I've had, but that's a different story.) I first used this username when I made my first email, at the age of thirteen, and I decided that appending my age was reasonable. (It's a good thing I didn't wait another year, because 13 is at least a moderately important number, (note yesterday's date) so the first implication is not necessarily an age.) After that, I used the same name for a number of sites, and the name stuck. Because of name conflicts, I am also known as "killerbee1", "killerbee131", and "killerbee121" on various sites.

My personal motto: My only desire is that I leave so deep an impression on you as you have left on me.
Dozer was my dogs name, he was my best friend...he died from cancer, he was only nine.
but he lives on in my memory.
I always name my pet minecraft wolves after him that way he can play along with me.
I was thinking about a nickname when I misheard the lyrics to "Sweet Nothing" and heard "Hollow Amoeba" instead of "There's a hollow in me now". HollowAmoeba sounded crappy, so instead of hollow I used what I thought of the song: Dismal. Thus DismalAmoeba was born!
Anyways, my MC name came after I got a demo account and figured out it would work if you played with mods offline. When I came to buy my Premium account, I had issues with upgrading my account, so I took the name of my series and one of my characters and mashed them together. Constant + Nexus = ConstantNexus.

My username for pretty much everything that requires a username or IGN is sneaky184. It is a simple representation of how I utilize my unique perspective(of everything) to sneakily maneuver my way through all of the challenges I face in my video game filled life. I don't really know where the 184 part came from though xD
Mine is Buck, and it came about after I saw Ice Age 3: dawn of the dinosaurs and I loved the character and how he was cool and whacky and hilarious and the name just kind of caught on when I made my minecraft username, and now everyboy instantly knows who I am through my IGN which is awesome, I sometimes think i could have found a cooler in game name but TBH I don't regret the decision at all cos I still love it

I got my name from when I was like 6 or 7 and I wanted a roblox name, so with my little imaginative mind I thought of a ninja fighting a dragon, and my sister had used 00 at the end of some username of hers, and I though it looked cool, thus ninjadragonfight00. Then when it came around to making a Minecraft name, I thought of that, but it wouldn't fit, and dragonfight00 was already taken, so somehow I dragonfight74. To this day I am confused and annoyed that I chose 74, it makes it seem like I was born in 1974 (which, mind you, I was not).
I have no idea where I got my IGN, I *think* that I got in from a book I was reading a long while ago, and there were "sound effects" of one of the characters doing something, and apparently the word "blorf" stood out to me, Being a goofy individual as I am, I remembered that word, and changed the spelling slightly, And here I am.

Hey, Check out my Deviantart for awesome fractal art.
You see, Sach, as a young'un I had a very large interest in natural bodies of water. My parents would always take me to the creek to see what we could see, and for me to catch what I could catch.
My father told me about a curious little crustacean, a miniature lobster of sorts, called a "Crawfish". At least, that's what he called it. Around other parts of the world they're called everything from crawdads to yabbies.
And soon after he told me about them, lo and behold, I caught one! It was scary for me, I was a kid who was scared of getting pinched by it.
Ever since then, crawfish have held a special place in my heart, which is where my various internet names come from. I used to think it had a space, "craw fish", which led to a lot of my names being "Craw_fish". Eventually I corrected that mistake, but that led me to discover that other people will have used that username on other sites. As such, I came up with what I use as my Minecraft, Steam, and all around general IGN; Crawfishness.
I remember MUDs, I might be from '92 but I remember MUDs, bahaha.
I did.
