Wow... Just wow... I can't even imagine what it must be like to use this... My only problem would be that I have glasses, and I'm not sure if I could wear the Oculus Rift over them... But I am definitely saving up for one of these when it comes out. New IPod in the future goes out the window in light of the Rift!
What, in my mind, saves this from being a gimmick is the fact that you get a free control vector out of it. Imagine your heads as another analog stick. Now we could use the mouse to control the crosshair while your head controls the screen. This means you could mine one thing while looking elsewhere. You could look over your shoulder for enemies as you mine.
Wow. I saw a TF2 game-play of this and thought "cool. They made my second-favorite game ever in VR. Maybe I'll buy it." Then I see this, and I'm like, "Now they made my #1 favorite game of all-time in VR?! I have to get it!" But I'm confused about something. In the game-plays I've seen of it, there are two screens, and it seems like it would be hard to play with like that. When you're actually wearing it, do you see the two screens, or is it some kind of optical illusion thing that makes it seem like one?

Yes there are 2 images....just like your brain normally gets...and then it imagines the world that you see.
And that is the same way 3D movies work...there are 2 images being merged in your brain to make one reality, the glasses allow the right image to the right eye and the left to the left.
The 2 images you are watching in the demonstration are obviously nothing like what you actually get with the oculus rift, if it was then you would have no need for the oculus rift
It looks cool but it looks like it might hurt your eyes if you play with it too long :/
If you read the FAQ, it says it causes very little eyestrain and constantly refocuses your eyes on a 3D plane, so that means you can play with it for a while and your eyes won't hurt/light on fire.
Well, as much as I'd love to play Minecraft with one of those, I'll probably end up getting nightmares because with my luck I'm going to turn around and there's going to be a spider right in my face.
I'm currently in the US and my Rift is back in the UK else I'd try this straightaway! Just a few more days until I get back...
It will be interesting to see if the lag is bearable. It seems that when you move the Rift, the view doesn't change quite as quickly. Could induce a diconnect from (virtual) reality a little!
If you can't run 2 Minecrafts at the same time then this is not for you. Basically 3D is 2 images with slightly different angles, the Oculus Rift is no different so you guys better upgrade your systems.
Feed my dragons please
