God I hate things like this. Gets you all hyped up until you find out that America is a selfish and will not let anyone else win a prize. I do hope that they realise there are more people that live out of the U.S than do. Also Minecraft and Mojang is based in Sweden! Not U.S.
I would again like to point out that it is not US law that prevents us from running contests or giveaways in another country.
If it were up to us, we would run these things in every country in the world, because no one deserves to be excluded. However, local laws (as in, where the contest/giveaway could potentially be held) is what determines what we can and cannot do in a given area. If Country A has laws and regulations in place that make it too long, difficult, or costly to run a given thing in Country A, then we cannot do it. This is a direct result of said laws in Country A, since that is where the contest or giveaway could potentially happen.
Saying that US law is what prevents us from running these in another country is basically like saying US law governs other countries, which it definitely does not.
If you are unhappy about us not being able to run a contest in your country of origin (and you should be!), I would suggest letting your local government know, so they can take steps to make it easier for contests and giveaways to be held there.
"Due to legal restrictions, this giveaway is limited to residents of U.S and Canada residents."
This is just not fair to people outside the USA / CANADA. Why have the contest at all if all your doing is tease them.
I'm so disapointed in the US Legal System !
Please note that the legal restrictions are not being placed by the US legal system, they are being placed by the other countries. If you wish to see them changed, you need to speak to your own government representatives.to get them changed. Our hands are tied by them.
Strange as this might seem, the US legal system has zero bearing on other countries' legal systems, which are what determine where we can run contests. If you are unhappy about it, please let your government know!
Aw, beat me to it.
Anyways, this is awesome. I can't wait to get my paws on some uber sweet yolo baller swag (I only know what half those words mean).
That said, I should point out that the ToS link didn't work for me. I can't go back and retry it now that I've entered the competition, but it looked like a broken link, not an internet hiccup.
Exactly why can you not do this in other countries? Competitions are certainly legal in the UK, NZ and AUS not to mention nearly everywhere else,
It usually has to do with excessive legal requirements in the countries/territories in question. For example, many Canadians are familiar with the fact that most of our contests aren't open to residents of the province of Quebec. This is because the Quebec government requires the following conditions be met by the sponsoring company (among others, this is far from an exhaustive list):
-Pay a fee of up to 10% of the value of the contest
-Follow a stringent set of guidelines that dictate the contest's rules
-Allow the government to oversee lawsuits arising from the contest
-Submit a written application over a month before the contest begins, and a report after the contest ends
-Etc. etc.
When there's too many laws in place in a given territory, it becomes unprofitable to open the contest up to residents. It's unfortunate, yes, but as has already been mentioned, you can place the blame squarely on the shoulders of your local bureaucrats and legislators.
I am so entering right now! Good thing I am in the U.S. :P. I hope I win!

Still can't believe the restrictions people place on only the General US.
Why do US Get all the fun stuff! UK Is crap :C
Because we dont have a good government. The US is in debt because our government uses the money on garbage such as Obama care and random ass-contests that give away items made from money that should be put to good use. Those items will do nothing but sit around anyways, so why waste money on them? At least your government can control what your money gets used on.
SIMPLIFIED/UPDATED POST: Nobody has yet noticed the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy pages were missing. Curse peoples has been informed. I have a new thing to hold against Curse. Issue will probably be solved soon. People who already signed up remain oblivious to the legal text they agreed to (the legal text that wasn't there).
Yeah! I wanna know too. I am 13 so I'm not sure where or how to claim the prize!

Swag means promotional products, and if I'm not mistaken I think these would qualify for promotional products.
I'm very opinionated about swag.
