The 0.7.2 update for Minecraft - Pocket Edition is going live, even as we speak! The change-log isn't as bulky as they often are; however, the current design focus for MCPE seems to suggest a heavy leaning towards improving performance, and player-assisting enhancements that are specific to mobile platforms. In addition, Mojang is hard at work getting Realms in order for MCPE, so that players can share in their awesome portable builds, no matter where they are!
ADDITIONS:
Nametags for multiplayer
Player List
Chat will be easier to use
BUG FIXES:
Loading a world with a dot after the name now resolved
Inventory bug (throwing items in hand while in a gui)
Glowing Obsidian can yield resources with an Iron pickaxe, but obsidian can only be mined with a Diamond one
Along with some planned features -
Cameras - At the Minecraft Pocket Edition panel at MineCon 2012, as well as one of Jbernhardsson's livestreams, it was stated that future plans include trying to have a proper use for cameras, perhaps an easier way to take screenshots and share them with others.
Infinite Worlds - At the Minecraft Pocket Edition panel at MineCon 2012, it was stated that future plans include trying to implement infinite worlds.
Redstone - At the Minecraft Pocket Edition panel at MineCon 2012, it was stated that future plans include implementing redstone.
Sky additions - Jbernhardsson tweeted that the changes to the sky in 0.6.0 were only the first iteration, and he has plans to implement more features like sunrise/sunset and stars (to bring it closer to the PC version).
Customizable Skins - Jbernhardsson tweeted, in response to a question, that customizable skins will be available soon.
Caves - Jeb stated that caves may be available as an option the user can toggle in later updates.
Nether - Johan mentioned on the issue tracker that the Nether Reactor may be replaced in the future. However, if the Nether does get implemented, it will most likely be next year because of preparations for the Beta Release.
Food - Johan mentioned on the Live Stream "Minecraft Pocket Edition MCO Beta" that in a future, more foods will be added.
Johan mentioned on the 0.5.0 livestream that wolves will possibly be added in the future.
Breeding - Johan answered a question that Breeding will be added in a no-distant future (possibly this year)
Music - Johan (Livestream) answered in a question that In-Game Music will be added for the next 4-5 updates more.
Enchanting - Johan said in the Live Stream Minecraft MCO Beta "I think we will get that in the future", it is planned but he isn't sure if he can implement Enchanting.
Chat scrolling - Johan said he would keep it in mind for future versions.
It's nice to see that MCPE will be taking some major steps toward the PC version.
Great but it is not that special. It has only few features. The news should normally show major updates like 0.7.0 which was not shown.
Also minor updates with exciting features.
I love the fact that Mojang introduced MCPE and the updates are amazing, although I do feel as if MCPE is somewhat neglected.
Yes, I understand they have to appeal to the larger community on the computer, although I do feel as if MCPE needs slightly more per update, whilst I say this, I'm extremely excited for the planned updates to come on MCPE.

The minecraft pe is sick.... Slowly updating, and realy bad in core... it should be more like in PC, but stil is a good game to play. Waiting for the redstone and infinite worlds with caves... Good job mojang...
This is exciting. I have all version of Minecraft, and honestly, MCPE is the worst out of the bunch... hang on... I don't have the Pi addition... Eh, well, MCPE is not the best. It needs bigger and better features. The problem is that it's further behind and it lacks the things the PC and Xbox versions have. Proper controls. I mean, I don't have enough control with my tiny screen (well, not that tiny, but you get the picture). I know I could get an Ipad, but I have android... I'd need to pay again. What I want is more stuff to play on it. More buttons, more options (I like to fiddle with the options in my games to see what the best options are), more multiplayer! It needs MORE!
