Back in my days we didn't have these fancy shmancy "Minecraft" and "computers"! We only had LEGOS, and how did we use them? Put them in front of someone's door and let them step on them *chuckle* good times.
All I found for this snapshot was 2 major new features.
1) Shaders - Shaders from what it looks like is inserted into the game through a .json file. Which means there will probally be a feature to add them to resource packs.
2) Video Settings - Now has a background that would be used for a menu that would scroll. Some new options have been added and some changed
New Options - Post-Processing On or Off (Shaders), Mipmaps, Anisotropic Filtering (Up to 16), Setting max framerate (10-Unlimited)
Changed - Render Distance is now set by chunks (2-16) instead of Tiny, Short, Normal, and Far
for some reason my starting screen is super small and i can't fix it! Well i guess with all the bug comments Mojang can fix them. After all without us they wouldn't know what the bugs are!
Well, this snapshot is rather disappointing, it's purely cosmetic. If they do keep these in the game for 1.7, I at least hope that they create an API for easily adding in custom shaders, maybe they could build it into resource packs in the future. *hint* Mojang *hint*
Well, the shaders ARE part of the assets folder in the jar. So theoretically, you can add in costom shaders like resource packs. and now that you can have more that one resource pack at a time, you can activate a shader from one pack, and use textures from another.
I'd be way happier about the shaders if they were controllable, instead of cycling through 15 or 20 options half of which are unplayable.

I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.

Well, I have the feeling that the "Super Secret Settings" button will turn into a "Shaders" button.
I agree on the unplayable part. Take for instance the "bits" shader, which is supposed to be retro, upping the saturation and lowering the resolution. Like you said, it's unplayable, it makes patches of black where you can't see, makes ugly colors, and makes low-contrast textures flat.
However, resource packs do have the ability to change them:
Before:
After:
So yeah, I think that shows that they can be made usable.
I can't wait for MY RAIN NOT TO BE INVISIBLE, and for the shaders menu to actually be complete. I'm hoping not only do we get the full power of GLSL shaders (I think now it's a bit limited to screen effects) in not only user-defined, but also pack-defined (as in, works as soon as you choose the pack).

Uh well useless 1.6.3-1.6.4 updates, theres no changelogs about them in the launcher (the tumblr site), still says "Minecraft 1.6.2"... Damn Im disappointed because Bukkit just released their 1.6.2 RB (Recommended Build) POOF 1.6.3-4 appears... Wow quite useless to update. Good thing the launcher offers to switch versions hehe. Not going to use 1.6.4... No changelog, no download. I know I can notice player loss on my server because noobs doesn't knows how to use the launcher (I mean those ones who doesn't check the server's site or wiki). I did an tutorial how to downgrade to 1.6.2 with teh mojang launcher. I use MagicLauncher so it doesn't affect me!
For the snapshot, those shaders effect is... LOL I tested it with creepers and I find it funny x) Creepers on drugs Hahaha lolol. Biomes are nice, I noticed Extreme Hills are quite bigger and more stone blocks on surface. Oh and Savanna and Mesa.. The Savanna biome remembers the mod ExtraBiomes XL and Mesa is nice (YAY Legit hardened clay <3) lol I guess everyone would mine 'em all
PS: My english sucks, so expect bad grammar. I speak french.

MagicLauncher is the best launcher I ever used! Hoping the developer would update for 1.13.x and 1.14.x
just checked if it's possible to add GSL shaders into the aasets/shaders folders, turns out they're in a totally different file format so those will have to be recoded to work with future version of minecraft
Oh my, galacticcraft assets didnt delete, that's why. nevermind
^^^^^^
don't know how long that's been there.

Man I'm old now.
And, like several people, I cannot activate the new "shaders" regardless of my video settings.

The options can't be copyrighted. They stole nothing. Took inspiration from, maybe.

Well, hopefully in the future, but for now all they can do is edit the ones that are displayed by hitting the super secret settings button. See above
