Here's a biome chart for the snapshot. (exluding Swamp and Mesa, because of the hardcoded colors)
The icons represent the biomes! (Bonus: the color is the biome ID in hexadecimal)
Hard-ish ones:
The ginko leaf is Jungle
The red block is when in your inventory
The upsidown V is ExtremeHills
The weird one (in the lower right corner) with a plus in the upper left corner is Cold Beach
The three circles is Ocean
The tree that has a white trunk and a black (with little dots) leaves is Birch Forest
The thin line with a star thingy on top is Mega Taiga
And the funny looking tall blob nearest to Mega Tagia is Taiga.
Some biomes have to share a pixel. Here's a list! (note: i didn't test hills ones for obvious reasons, and i didn't test variation, as i assume they're the same as the ones they vary)
Shared colors:
Extreme Hills, Extreme Hills Edge, Stone Beach, Extreme Hills+
Jungle, JungleHills, JungleEdge
Birch Forest, Birch Forest Hills
Mega Taiga, Mega Taiga Hills
EDIT: My method was:
1. Make the top of grass blank white.
2. Make a flatmap of a biome.
3. Color half of the chart red.
4. See if the grass is red...
5a. If so, color the red white and color half of THAT red.
5b. If not, do 5a, but with the white half instead.
6. Repeat from 3 to 5 until it's just one pixel.
7. Repeat from 2 to 6 until done.
Thank you, and good day.
EDIT 2: It seems that higher up grass blocks have a slightly displaced color, more displaced the higher you go?
its a bucket fill in-depth commentary on modern consumerism's over-exploitation of positive human emotion via minimalistic figures seated in a retro-aesthetic.
It's "jum bo dee es six tee for", NOT "jum bods six tee for" or "jum bo dee es six for". What the heck is a jumbod, anyway?
That amplified terrain is awesome to mess around in. With melons spawning in melon patches now there's no need for buildings, turning structures off and amplified terrain gives you the Minecraft of today with a bit of the feel from the Minecraft of alpha/early beta. Alone in a strange world and having to survive. In an odd way it makes the Earth of today rather boring since it's all built up.
Am I really the only one who thinks the super secret settings is just a placeholder for a mods/plugins list
I think not. The resource packs will be able to mod every aspect of Minecraft at some point, removing the need for a seprate "Mods and Plugins" button.

Does the new worldgen make it more difficult to find survival island seeds?
I believe so. They made oceans significantly smaller. They can still be found though, as my friend shared a seed with me. Here it is in case you're interested:-6781962802967358842
I turned amplified on for that one, though I'm not sure if that's required or not.

Well, I don't know what the heck is up with my snapshot, & this is consistant; having tried this in about 13 new maps. but.....
*Mesa & Ice Plain Spike biomes are either nonexistant or super rare. The rest of the new biomes are present. Flower forests are rare but I managed to find a tiny one on an island in the middle of a massive ocean biome.
*Ocean biomes are still huge. Islands are sparse.
*Default worlds are now huge. Large biomes are now ridiculously unending; In one map, I flew over a Redwood Forest Biome for a solid half hour.
*Using seeds to generate worlds where you spawn in a Mesa Biome still have no Mesa Biomes.
Make texture packs? Tired of people telling you to upload better screencaps? Send me a message with a link to your pack & I can help. (Check my Planet Minecraft blogs for photography examples). http://www.planetminecraft.com/member/likalaruku/
Also: some of new flowers look completely out of place (I'm speaking of tulips and poppies). They don't look... Minecraft-y. (I know it can be fixed with a texturepack, but that's not the point). Some of the stems are too bright by the way.
Minor complaint: Please rearrange the "decoration" section of the creative menu so it makes more sence (i.e. put flowers next to other flowers and the like).
Other than that, this snapshot is amazing. Love new biomes, love more sensible placement of biomes, love new fishing, love falling particles, love "/summon" command, love many other things.
But please, a million times please, bring back classic roses!

I agree with some flowers looking out of place. They might tweak the textures though, as they have the tendency to do.

I presume so, yeah.
It does work, it just makes some sounds

From the same seed: A pretty epic sky Jungle.
