I love the resource packs, and the new day cycle gamerule, but there's been one addition that I've been wanting for a long time. Since it hasn't been added yet, I decided to post a topic about it.
To summarize, it basically makes droppers be able to place disks into jukeboxes, allowing for redstone controlled music. Great for adventure maps, and with the new resource pack, imagine what mapmakers could do with that addition. For example, epic battle music could automatically start as zombies pour through the door.
The resource packs sound like their going to be awesome </badPun>
I think it would be cool if Mojang added like 10 "blank disc" items that could have their audio edited in the resource pack. Then, you could have special music/messages in adventure maps.
For example, if you wanted background music or narration in your custom map, you would set the audio for one of these blank discs in the resource pack and then the narration/music would be played when the player put it in a jukebox.
How long do you think until someone makes a resource pack with the old fall damage, explosion, and bow noises?
Pretty quick. There are people out there who want the old sound. There is currently a mod for this. But the only old sound i like was the exp orb sound from beta 1.8
Maybe you didn't fully read the post, but the texture packs are not being removed. They're being replaced with resource packs that can change both texture AND sound.
Where would I go to report bugs with the texture pack converter? The main bug tracker doesn't seem like the right place. For some reason it isn't converting a few of my animation's txt files correctly.
Big fancy mcmeta files and their brackets and curly brackets don't seem necessary for simple animations...
Never mind that... After some more experimenting, it was a bug with resource packs and not the converter. Issue reported here if you're wondering.
download it... right click on TextureEnder.jar open with Java.... find your texturepack zip file. best to put it into a folder in your documents. so you know where it is ... use the converter on this file. it will produce to files....
one will be snapshot 13w23a the other will be similer to mine... 128x Flashcraft 1.6-converted-1371150857143 <<< this you then add to the resoucepacks file....
before you run it. check in the (texturename)/assets/minecraft/textures/blocks
check to see if your cobblestone is correct. for me i had to rename from my existing texturepack and add to this... then find the stonebrick_smooth texture then rename it to just stonebrick and add that to the new resource... and it works fine. only problem i have is with the HD fonts. and shadows of items in game.

I'm really hoping someone at Mojang sees this and implements it, so I can use all the support I can get.

The resource pack includes the textures, but makes it so that you can do more with them. Also, it allows the sounds to be edited.

Check out the server I play on, timgaming.com. (website and ip)
