Time for this week's Snapshot, 13w24a! Comprised mainly of bugfixes, there are a few goodies - or, in the case of textures, laying the foundation for goodies - in store, however!
Lava texture animation moves too fast / Animated textures ignoring text files
WAIT, MY TEXTURE PACKS LOOK ALL BROKEN AND WRONG AND...:
Nope, there is a new texture system now in place, in preparation for the future of the Mod API!

We’ve been working really hard on the new Resource Pack system, and we think it’s at the point where we can finally push it live. This is a huge step forward for the future mod API and will replace texture packs.
Unfortunately, texture packs will no longer be supported but you can use this fancy tool to automatically convert them! Please report all issues about resource packs, and the snapshot in general, to our bug tracker!
How interesting. Glad to hear that they are making progress on the mod api though.

Hmmm...any chance this new resource pack could include the opportunity for custom sounds to go with custom textures?
From what I understand about this "Resourcepacks" update, is basically you make a resource pack instead of a mod (same thing, just a different name). Will make "mods" less likely to crash or corrupt the vanilla files. "Resourcepacks" can also be "texturepacks" and customs sounds, also custom language files, if someone were to, for example, make a language file for MLP....
Is it possible to find a Client Jar version of this Snapshot ?
Because my FPS are devided by twenty when i'm using MinecraftDev...
(200 FPS on Minecraft, 10 FPS on MinecraftDev) so you understand that it's just unplayable.
I think i'm not the only one who can't enjoy the last snapshot because of this problem.
Did you make sure that the page open with all of the code running was closed after the game started? that can fix a lot of lag.
Uh, not-so-good one, but that's impossible to use the resources pack, and then MCPatcher or Optifine doesn't support the texture pack about this snapshot.

Back up your current version of minecraft before doing this...
Go to Versions folder, find this executable jar file of the version you want, copy it to the original bin bin folder, rename it minecraft.

Even if they did, you'd whine that something was broken and should be fixed.
That is exactly what I was wondering. Probably one of things. Possibly even some of the stuff.
