Please stop adding things that are already done with mods, and instead get the mod API done. I'm serious, stop all other work. You don't need to do horses. Someone has already done that for you. You don't need to do a redstone update. Someone has already done that for you. Just stop it! The mod API should have been the second thing you got done. First, code the game. Second, add a mod API. And then let the community add tons of stuff easily.
Guys, in my opinion, I loved the good old days. Previous to update beta 1.7.1, the point of MINEcraft was to actually mine. I'm not going to lie, I don't really like how complicated some of the new features are. I enjoyed actually being able to remember all the crafting recipes. At first I was a little opposed to potions and enchanting and even the redstone update. But I learned to get along with it. But horses, really? Can't you just leave it in some part of the .jar file to make them optional? Someone should make a mod like the nostalgia mod. Something that takes you back to the good old days....

yes! Yes! YES!
For example, the Redstone update could have been comprised of mods like Redpower or something....
Horses might become more convenient and less expensive on resources than ride-able pigs. Sure, that can be a possibilitity. However, if this is true, the horse would still make the ride-able pig redundant as players will prefer this over ride-able pigs. Like Kyte314 said, why did they bother to implement the ride-able pig when they're planning to implement a better feature that will make it redundant?
I don't work for Mojang so I am leery to speak for them, but have you truly never ever taken an action, saw the result, and then CHANGED YOUR MIND?
Riding pigs is stupid. It always has been a stupid novelty that nobody does once they've tried it once or twice. Maybe, MAYBE on some servers they set up pig races or something but I bet even those stopped being fun after 2 or 3 times.
If you are an exception to this, please post pictures and/or videos of your wonderful pig stalls and roads designed for quick pig travel, and maybe a little snippet of video of people on your server using pigs far more often than minecarts or even walking.
They could fix pigs. They could remove the carrot-on-a-stick and let you control them with the keyboard. I don't know why they didn't. They instead chose to add horses. I'm cool with this and have no problem ignoring pigs as a mount, the way I do now.

I think that to avoid redundancy they will make horses have interesting drops. I have heard some people say glue, which could be useful to keep gravel or sand from falling or something. Also, I would like horse hair drops that could be used for rope, maybe to attach horse, wagon and pig caravans together. Like pigs are donkeys and you can lead it with yourself on your horse. Of course, they could do that with silk.
im assuming (Whether its true or not) that you thought i meant all redstone is crap. I know redstone has added a lot but daylight sensors? seriously? and trapped chests and weighted pressure pads? thats pretty silly to add I guess the redstone update isnt THAT bad but its pretty pointless. remember this is just my opinion im not gonna take it to Mojang or anything
Im just saying this is how it's being directed; in a similar manner to what jagex did with runescape? i never said that runescape was a sandbox adventure game? nor did i say that jagex is mojang? im just saying mojangs acting the same as they did? its all a matter of my opinion? Are you punctuationally confused.
do you even imagine how much and how minecraft is played all over the world? This is not a regular mmorpg, this one of the most free and open games of this generation and you have no Idea how many people are using the features they're adding. And in about redstone stuff, the idea itself that sensors and trapped chests are silly and useless just makes me and many other players laugh.
Well, This is pretty cool. I bet you can use a saddle on a horse and ride it. You can probably train it and control it. Cool. Minecraft has a good future.
I'm excited for the addition of horses. Hopefully they will be easier to control than pigs and faster than traveling on foot, otherwise there would be no advantage to riding them. Possibly they could be tamable with apples or carrots and be found wild in grassland biomes. I look forward to seeing where Mojang takes this.
I would like to see saddles made out of leather. I wonder if you have to tame them, and if you do, with what food?
If they are tamable, it would probably be by apples. Horses liking carrots is another common thing, but pigs have that front covered as they like carrots.
On another note, I had a cool idea for a weapon specifically made for use on horseback: A lance. Think about it, you charge a mob without worrying about pressing any kind of button, just the force of your speed defeating any kind of mob(or other player) Let me know if you think this is a bad idea.
If anyone has seen a mod review for Dr. Zhark's Mo' Creatures, then you should know what to expe ct. The horses he created can wear armor, are tamable, and I believe the mule or donkey can be equipped with chests. So if you haven't yet, go on Youtube or something and search a mod review.
(Cannot wait for the update! When does it come out? I heard May possibly..?)

It doesn't work that way.
