umm horses?
well its obvious, like why would it be a tree in the back of the horse or why would it be the girl? We already have NPC villagers.(squidwards XD) Well we don't know if a villager is a boy or a girl. Ok back to subject. So what i mean is it has to be horses. Well lucky if you don't have horse mod. (more creatures) so yeah. HORSE
I'm not sure… It sure looks to me like they're adding falling trees.
Pigs are not an ideal mount. They are hard to control and the only way you control them has durability, plus DrZhark worked/is working on these horses, so they should have a higher jump and optional armor.
Wait, if horses are better than pigs and the carrot on a stick thing, then why did they implement it in the first place? Also, this would most likely mean a whole feature would have to be taken out of the game, a feature that's been in Minecraft for quite a while and that many people probably are attached to, all to add in a similar feature that's supposed to be (and might actually be) better, but since it wasn't what was originally put in, it will also be much less enjoyable.

Nice! I always wished for a hostile water mob such as the shark or seamonster. Now I have that further reason to build that boat and fear the ocean!! Great other ideas that spark from the cool promo pic. Keep it coming Minecraft!!!
Yeah, umm and they're too slow to even bother with considering I could use the run command.
Seriously, what's up with you guys saying pigs are slower than sprinting? After "boosting" the pig by right-clicking with your Carrot On A Stick, it's actually much faster. Have you guys ever tried boosting them for more speed?
If you guys really don't believe me, why don't I throw in some numbers then?
A boosted pig has an average speed of 8.0 m/s. Sprinting on foot is 5.6 m/s. And for the sake of comparison as well, a mine cart going down a 1/4-sloped track is7.1 m/s, while a boat going down a 1/4-sloped rapid is 7.3 m/s.
Click here for the complete list of the average speeds of the types of transportation in the game.
Boosted saddled pigs are the second fastest entities as of 1.5, only just behind the player whilst flying in Creative mode (which is 10.8 m/s).
I seriously like to believe that you guys have no clue that you can boost saddled pigs.

Oh, the boost, you mean the one that uses 25% of the Carrot on a Sticks durability? So you are right, you just forgot that [Sarcasm]tiny [/Sarcasm] tidbit.
Every second comment is "WE DUN NEED HORSE DURR". Instead of saying corny comments like these, maybe tell us what we NEED in the game.
And besides, there are hidden legends that you can actually NOT do something!
For example, if you see a horse, you don't have to ride it, try NOT clicking on the horse, it takes tons of work, but you literally IGNORE the horse.

I am really hoping for a bioupdate that focuses on the environment of Minecraft. Lots of new mobs, new biomes, more generated structures, things like that. In addition to the horses I have my fingers crossed for two hostile water mobs. One is a shark that patrols the waters as a skeleton does above ground, and one can be a piranha or something which has a chance of flying out at you when you fish instead of a regular fish.

Horses might become more convenient and less expensive on resources than ride-able pigs. Sure, that can be a possibilitity. However, if this is true, the horse would still make the ride-able pig redundant as players will prefer this over ride-able pigs. Like Kyte314 said, why did they bother to implement the ride-able pig when they're planning to implement a better feature that will make it redundant? Our original argument still stands.

I'm pretty sure a number of us who didn't like the horse idea have already said "what we NEED in the game". And no, it's hard to ignore the fact that there is a redundant feature in the game.
I really like to think that there's more to this picture than the horse. Seriously guys, hasn't Jeb already tried posting cryptic pictures to reveal upcoming features in the past before? Can this picture be possibly one of those?
And again, for those who are arguing against "haters" -- there's a difference between complaining irrationally/ignorantly, and criticizing rationally. We only wish to identify what might be the problem so it can be corrected, and we can do so without some negative emotion like hate attached to it at the same time. We don't "hate" horses. We just don't see how it should be implemented when we already have the ride-able pigs. If horses are to be implemented, there should be more to it, like limits, so that there are still some advantages to riding a pig than riding a horse. I can't think of any good limits for the horses at the moment, but if they could come up with something really good we're up for it. If you guys think we're wrong, you should've come up with a good rational argument other than calling us haters, and hating us for being haters.
I feel that horses are a bit redundant to the saddled pig, but it is always refreshing to see new mobs being added.
Perhaps more updates could be added on neutral/hostile mobs? I would like to see a new bipedal monster to join the ranks of the [pig]zombies and skeletons.

That big brown animal is a horse, I think…
Horses are a feature of Mo' Creatures…
Mo' Creatures is a mod…
…
Modding API?
that could be a strong possibility.....
No, DrZhark helped work on vanilla horses, so the horses will likely be similar. Jeb's image of them makes their model appear exactly the same.
*gasp*
They're finally adding beards‼
BUT I WANT OOOLD WORLD GENERATION!!!
