Okay, really? We need craftable horse armor. If I want horse armor in this one server I go on, I'll need to walk 70k-100k blocks because every dungeon in a 50k block radius is pretty much empty now.
"All nations are rising" \m/
Also, why did they have to remove "Mobs not realizing they killed their attacker and trying to attack empty space"...
Sounds funny
It would've been funny if the empty space happened to be a deep pit to bedrock.
Coal Blocks will smelt a stack of items, aparently, and finding Horse Armor Dungeons, and the Saddle? I guess there will be no riding Horses on Servers.
So, we can make complicated redstone contraptions, craft armor made entirely out of diamonds, enchant them by reading spells off a book, build portals to travel to the Nether, and defeat a freaking dragon, but we don't know how to make a saddle?
The "Butcher" villager can sell a saddle for 6-7 emeralds. In case you missed it, villagers sell saddles. They're not *only* from dungeons.
As for the armor, I would be happy if, by extension, the blacksmith villager -- or maybe a new horse wrangler / rancher villager, since the blacksmith has so many trades already -- was made to sell horse armor as well.

Totally forgot about that! This sorta changes everything. I now think it is on just the right level of difficulty to obtain. However, now horse armor will get exhausted quickly... I hope they do the same thing for armor as saddles are now.

Ok... So... I just tested this... that if flippin awesome. I didn't know that the butcher sold saddles... none of mine ever have! but Hey, I love it. Thank you VERY much for pointing this out.
Jebzay~ Um I'm pretty sure that they mean that carrots and potatoes always give you one when they break unless they are fully grown where they give you more than one, if they aren't giving you more than one when you grow them, you aren't benefiting from farming them. So no, it wouldn't be a feature.
When will they solve slow terrain generation and black areas all over the place? Without optifine, I can't play this properly. It's about time they do something about the game engine itself ! They just toss new stuff into a broken core code! I actually gave money for this...
For the love of... Darnit, why did they have to remove the crafting recipes for horse armor and saddles? I am fine with using regular saddles on horses, but now you can't even hope to find them on large multiplayer servers.

This is boss! I'm testing coal blocks right now. I am glad you can craft hay now but the horse saddles were removed. D:
But I DID manage to craft my horse (did you see him? he's totally black! Ninja Horse! xD) some diamond horse armor before it was removed.

Coal blocks are pretty cool whether they are a good idea or not. Just a modified redstone block texture, I've seen. As furnace fuel, a stack of them is...epic.
What do you think they've been trying to do since the dawn of time?
Well with every update, it seems to be worse and they say nothing about it in the "bugfix" or "what's new" area on their forum. It should be the #1 issue
IDK for the rest of you guys, but I have pretty strong computer - GTX580, i72600K@4GHz, 64bit OS and JAVA... Maybe my computer is too overpowered for this D:

You say that you don't have issues with the world generating slow, just in front of you, while you run forward ? And no black areas ?

Have you tried changing the render from far (default) to a different one? I use tiny due to my hardware being outdate, but I can play the game. It also helps to update the video card drivers.
Are you also running the latest version of Java?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I also have a Playstation 3, along with the Xbox 360. I play Minecraft PC atm
when is the mod api gonna come out come on mahjong it's been a year stop this stupid coal block nonsense and actually add the modding api
Patience friend. They can't add it immediately because they still need to add parts of the engine to the game, which they are doing in small amounts to ensure something doesn't break after they've completed the whole thing, which would mean searching through an entire code just to find the problem.
Has anyone else realized that Minecraft 1.6 is turning into Minecraft 2.0. I mean now they have; horses(with different breeds), Blocks of coal, The feature where Zombies can call for more Zombies(In 2.0 it was chickens), a mob based use for Golden Apples(Taming horses-Flying sheep), Hay Bales, Dried Clay(Mud), ect.
Maybe Minecraft 2.0 was just Mojang testing to the public about what people thought sounded good. Just my opinion.
Mojang, I believe, stated that some of the features in the April fool's joke were going to be implemented into the actual game.
Who says it isn't the number one issue? I don't think having Dinnerbone write "Frankly, we couldn't solve the issue" once a week would have any use to the players. If you're lucky you may find something related on Dinnerbone's Twitter account. For example he tweeted about his progress on the new lightning engine quite a time ago.
Ok, but from this new updates I maybe got the wrong feeling that they actually spend their time adding new features, instead solving bigger problems with the code itself. I tried every possible tweak out there (yes, new drivers, JAVAn voodoo magic, etc...) As far as I see things, they shouldn't put so much effort in adding puny things in MC like horses and stuff, they should build a sturdy engine first. Look at the mod community: I am not asking the impossible - if OPTIFINE can do it, why they can't find a way to make it better ? No, instead they add horsies to the sluggish engine... How adorable...
Maybe they should put mr.sp614x (optifine author) to their payroll, then we should have a decent game!

Just sayin' to the efficiency freaks like me.
8 coal blocks = 9 stacks of whatever you want to cook/smelt

Is it A? B? UWMFVBSOP?

Then get a time machine. These things take time.

I'm going to do some more stuff with coal blocks.
It doesn't happen to me.
