First, everyone, stop crazing about ruby armor, or ruby swords, etc. JUST BECAUSE ITS AN ORE DOESNT MEAN IT WILL HAVE ARMOR. No one in real life makes diamond armor let alone ruby. If it even is ruby.
In the background. As the pathsin the village.Look closely. It looks like it hsould be gravel but it looks different
In the first picture however, I do see the shiny ore. But jeb said and I quote "I'm not adding any new ores because I can" It doesnt look like redstone, if you look closely it has more shinyness to it.
How about making them not look stupid and not have stupid names? There's a start.
THIS!!! Holy cow. Also, people are screaming RUBIES!!! just like people on the internet always scream BOOBIES!!! any time there are any visible. For goodness' sake, they'll probably just be currency and maybe something for enchanting, but not much more (NO ARMOR OR TOOLS PLEASE!). Not that exciting. Cool, though. Also, Crafting material for crown?
I think Jeb should also add different village and villager styles based on what biome they are in.
+Tree houses in jungles. +Pyramids etc. in deserts. +Tree stump houses in swamps. +Regular villages in grasslands. <-- Change the look of villagers though.. +Igloos in snow biomes.
^ This would be a GREAT addition with the new Large Biomes mode.
Vote this post so Jeb will see it.
That would be epic. Half my recent posts are asking for that.
yay finaly a reason to find villages (but the Prices seem a little too high) also i was expecting the jungle villages to be tree houses. Good thing im making a mod for that
I'm guessing that the currency will be redstone, I wonder if there will be a seperate villager for trading/store ownering or if its like this is a guy gimme stuff and I'll give you stuff.
Though if it is rubies I atleast hope other than possible currency(although the "rubies/currency" doesn't look like a ruby too much, kinda, but I don't think so.) you can use them for jewelery as enchanted and apply it to chest armor or let it take the place of chest armor. I hate how the armor covers the full skin so the rubies as jewelery would let you see your skin and with the proper enchantment make it almost equal to chest armor? <---- I like this idea alot!
But I hope there will be more than just trading on interaction!!! Other than that, I'm not too excited on the rubies/currency.(It'd be nice to see villagers mining though... I don't know if Notch would be able to do it though...)
Gold is applied to food to enhance it, such as golden apples and carrots. This doesn't make sense. You would not smother an apple in butter, and if you did, it'd probably give you a heart-attack, not bestow you with magical healing abilities.
It's about freakin' time you can trade items with villagers!
Also... what's with the ruby? Is that going to be a new gem, and are you able to make tools and weapons with it rather than just trade items by using it?

YES! Jeb finally added Rubies to Minecraft, a feature I've been waiting for forever! He said he'd add a new ore (but only if there was a purpose for it) and I guess he made Rubies currency! And if you look at the picture closer, they aren't Redstone-made rubies. The player has a Potion Stand and there are various Pistons around the villager trap. If anything, the Redstone was used for them.
Woohoo Rubies! Does this mean we get Ruby Armor now?! :-D
Jeb hasn't added anything yet. That's just experimental ideas. For all we know, we'll trade cow poop and chicken beaks.

Unless redstone has a retexture? Everyone jumps on the relatively normal-looking gravel in one of the images and yet insists that the ore block is new >.> These releases always make people set a speed record for jumping to conclusions xD
Either way, I love most of the ideas that have been bandered around here, rubies would be something else to mine for, redstone coins would allow people to have a use for the masses of redstone they gather unless they're a REALLY avid redstone user and the inclusion of changes to villages (in new biomes for example) and villagers (nice beard pops) would make the Testificates more varied and more fun.
Just to be hypocritical and hazard a guess of my own: What if the changes to the villager appearances are something to do with the trade system? Such as Villagers actually having 'active' job roles such as, say, trader of food stuffs (farmer), trader of iron etc (Smithy)...I'd say that it would have at least been considered at some point.
Still, very excited about this update =D

So we can finally have an actual reason to mine it!
Jeb hasn't added anything yet. That's just experimental ideas. For all we know, we'll trade cow poop and chicken beaks.
also ruby's my birth stone, based on July!
It'd be nice if he added all the birthstones and made it so we could make them into blocks! BIRTHDAY STONE HOUSE WOOT
or a rainbow gem castle! tho I donno if you can craft the rubies into blocks like you do with Diamonds and the like.

... Or you could just sell the testificates a lot of crap that you don't need.
