The 1.4.3 Pre-Release is ready for testing! Mojang has been hard at work fixing the many bugs found in the game - almost too many to list here! - and have prepared this pre-release for early playtesting! If all goes well, the official release of the 1.4.3 update is expected to be this coming Wednesday, November 7th. Check out the update, and tell us about it!
Also be sure to report any bugs you find with the official Mojang Bug Tracker, linked below.
I must admit, some of those bugs are actually pretty funny.
[MC-270] - Skeletons shoot arrows faster than humanly possible;
[MC-347] - Open Doors and Levers hate each other;
[MC-767] - Creating world with seed and map world "QUATREPOINTDEUX" fails;
[MC-973] - Bat noises are painful and cause headaches.
[MC-1547] - Spinning while placing a bed creates a triangular bed.
I mean, holy hell, triangular beds, that's awesome.
I'll just wait for the release on next Wednesday. Plus I haven't even noticed about the bugs ever since I've updated it to 1.4 and then move on to 1.4.2. But I'll just leave that to the others since they reported their problems.
1.4.3.. prerelease. fixes the SMP chest bug. I've always hated that. Glad they fixed it.

Shortly after the release of this news, some of the links including the bug fix list is unresponsive probably due to high traffic. I have copied and pasted the bug fix here:
[MC-2] - Enchanted items show its background on the beacon-block
[MC-5] - In Minecraft ore emerald can be broken with a minimum iron pickaxe, but the block emerald can be broken with all the pickaxes.
[MC-270] - Skeletons shoot arrows faster than humanly possible
[MC-298] - Text misplaced in demo mode window and 4:3 screen
[MC-303] - "Your game mode has been changed" shows in log when it hasn't.
[MC-310] - Dropped items stop minecarts on their track
[MC-311] - If you put an anvil ( or a few other items) into a display case and turn it upside down then the orange from the case will start to overlay the item in the case
[MC-973] - Bat noises are painful and cause headaches.
[MC-977] - When riding a minecart, fall damage lags.
[MC-1004] - Custom spawners with no delay variance crash the game
[MC-1023] - Potion of Weakness removes ability to destroy paintings and item frames
[MC-1037] - Missing pitch rotations in OpenAL implementation
[MC-1088] - Lightning strikes can create client side fires (ghost fires)
[MC-1102] - Minecraft crashes in creative inventory
[MC-1132] - Netherportals create a huge lag, especially when serveral entities have to be teleported
[MC-1136] - Enderpearls (and other throwable objects) loose their link to the thrower when reloaded
[MC-1162] - When you jump on wheat crops usually the farmland become dirt, then seeds and wheat be dropped. However if you jump on potatoes and carrots crops farmland become dirt, but crops stay there.
[MC-1181] - SkullOwner lost when breaking a player skull block
I'm glad there fixing issues cause i took a MAJOR hit to my fps in 1.4.2, i hope it doesn't change to much tho.... i just finished updating all my mods.... and november 7th is my birthday so i have better things to do them upddate.... AGAIN
^-- I thought that was one of those "not a bug, a feature" things. Good to know we're getting it back, the mod spotlight the yogscast did where it was put back in the game was awesome.
[MC-30] - Some of the regular sounds are now server-sided
^--- does that fix or make worse the issue where a laggy server means the creeper hisses 10 seconds after it kills you?
^--- so THAT'S where my sword went! I knew some of my items were missing
[MC-973] - Bat noises are painful and cause headaches.
^-- they are a tad annoying, but I still like them squeaking. Just a bit quieter, the things are everywhere.
[MC-977] - When riding a minecart, fall damage lags. ^--- I was wondering why, in a poorly built minecart rail, I kept falling a huge distance, keeping on going, and then dying 10 seconds later.
[MC-1464] - Falling sand appears on fire when falling into lava
^---not a bug,'it's a feature
So they really plan on fixing all of this? Some of these bugs have been around for the entirety of minecraft, like the mirrored items held by the player. o_O
Chests are broke - they don't close properly after exiting inventory screen. Torch placement is also broke - when placing a torch on the ground next to a wall it will snap to the wall.
Er .. Google Chrome just warned me that www.minecraftforum.net is "fishy" lol ... had to "continue anyway" to get here.
Anyway, good that they are bugfixing stuff, but the fact that mobs/villagers are STILL sometimes walking half block below (as if sunked one block) is really annoying, and they list it as fixed ... yeah, right.

Same here.
Kinda like a kick in the junk, but with a nice massage after. I just don't know if this is good or bad.

Yeah, screw new, optional content! (that was sarcasm)
You obviously don't play on multiplayer. The sign bug and minecart damage bugs alone are worth it.
I also assume you rarely if ever fight slimes.
Did you know I write Science Fiction? Well I do. Check it out at http://planetretcon.com/books/
Bukkit I needs you!!!
You know what I was thinking while playing 1.4.2 "this is great and all, but there's still so many bugs"
them boom, this happens.
It's more that I look at most patches and see "bug fixes: 42" "bugs added: 42"
[MC-47] - Cant kill slimecubes
^--- HOLY CRAP they're fixing this?! I assume they mean the broken hitboxes of the larger slimes, making them nigh impossible to hit with a sword
[MC-13] - Arrows do not stick (and stay) in mobs
