Have you noticed how, yet again, the minecraft developers have stolen content from a mod?
The "mob" heads were originally created by Jammy780 in the mod found here:
Actually Jammy780 stole content from Mojang when editing their game. They have the right to add anything they want since they made most of the code and everything that mod and all other mods use.
Though the method needs to be worked on a bit more. But good for starters.
I foresee a future of racetracks & pig-jockeys on multiplayer....& "card games on racing pigs" memes.

Make texture packs? Tired of people telling you to upload better screencaps? Send me a message with a link to your pack & I can help. (Check my Planet Minecraft blogs for photography examples). http://www.planetminecraft.com/member/likalaruku/
It would be neat if in some way the mobs' behavior was affected when you wore one of their heads. The species whose head you're wearing should either a.) attack you more ferociously and/or track you from a farther distance (because they know you killed one of their own) or b.) Ignore you/not attack you (because they see you as one of their own).
I don't really care which way it should go but one or the other would be nice.
I foresee a future of racetracks & pig-jockeys on multiplayer....& "card games on racing pigs" memes.
I imagine pressure plates that trigger pistons that lift things up to block the person in front of you, so whoever's in the lead has a harder time than the people behind.
The skeleton head is 398. Not sure about the rest.
Pigs follow you around with a carrot on a stick. Again not sure about other uses.
With the "carrot on a stick", the pig you are mounting will move in the direction you face. They don't jump up blocks that are in front of them, so the only real use for them is traveling downhill. I wish this would be changed.

Do you mean auto jump or controlled jumping. If it was auto jump that would be a great incentive to go and find a saddle.
Now On more serious note, I been doing some survival/creative mix on the snapshots, and been noticing a lot of bugs, and current issues.
loves the heads but if placed as drop, it seems that after exactly killing 514 skeletons, never got a single head. (both in survival and creative) So it proves that only the Wither skull can be taken as drops.
Wither boss, love it. moving it makes it destroy block of all kind, better make one in the nether, or far away from your home, you might lose it. In closed areas... run outside or in open areas, as walls might protect from some of the blast but not the Wither itself, it destroyed every block I placed next to it even obsidian. Can't destroy bedrock though. So I would suggest to add a certain limit. (some suggestions placed after this)
Beacon, I really love it. Yet when you get the boost at some point it gets visually annoying seeing constant particles floating in your visual... I would request that for within the beacon area the particles could be removed until out of the area.
This was somewhat funny, passing through the floor and suffocate while riding my pig. Idk if it has been fix, but I see some constant, mostly pets and passives animals, passing through the floor. (Oh yea love the carrot on a stick)
Now for some suggestion related to this snapshot
Wither Boss (1): Make Nether-Bricks and Nether-Fence unbreakable to it and its attacks, plus maybe create a Nether-Door so even when open they cannot pass through. Reason: This way we can make our boss rooms, and reduce the loss of our farm animals.
Wither Boss (2): To prevent certain grief if used in servers, there should be a sort of a command to prevent creating the Wither. What I meant by grief was also meant that it can be used to attack unsuspected players.
Heads (overall) (1): May try to make it a more common drop if a sword or/and potion is used.
Heads (overall) (2): Like in the quote I made above, putting a head on a fence/nether-fence should attrack or scare the mobs. Steve's head should make an obvious attraction to "certain" mobs.
Head (Steve): Love it especially when I used it in item frame, may be a drop from zombies, if killed with healing potions.
Beacon: Would like it to give a directional effect, in other word. Perhaps making a sort of compass, that when used on an active beacon, it will always point towards it... lapis is rarely used so maybe using it on a same recipe as a normal compass by replacing the redstone.
Carrot on the Stick: This is pretty good, but I wish can throw it to make the pig move faster. When it is thrown and above stairs or cliffs the pig will jump even wish player its the back. When arrived near the carrot, player must remove it on it's own or the pig eats it. Giving a reason to bring more carrots.
i would be surprised if one of the minecraft crew takes all the ideas. Mod makers can use it too.

I am a problem seeker, so I can solve them. When I see a problem, that I did, I try to fix it. When there are problems I can't fix, I ask for help. But when people wants to make problems, even unknowingly, I try to stop them. Sometimes I get hurt, but will stand up after I fall.
Painting placement is still wonky for me...some walls it will only spawn 1x1 and 1x2 no matter how much space , other walls it will cycle thru them all , but still haven't seen the new wither painting...
I also wish you could move the new heads with pistons...would be good to scare other people with , and use in my dark rides .
Has anyone had a problem with aux.class? It won't go into my .jar file, and my game CONSTANTLY CRASHES WHILE OPENING A WORLD BECAUSE OF IT.
Anyone else?

Has anyone yammering on about stolen mods stopped for a moment to consider how things actually work? I'm not particularly certain about Sweden, but I do know a few facts about how it would work in the US. First off, while a mod is able to be copyrighted, mojang would not be violating that copyright unless they directly stole copyrightable content, i.e. the ACTUAL code, images, or audio. Otherwise, it would be a patent related issue. Most countries that deal with patents have varying laws on software patents, ranging from "you can't patent software" to "Technically you can only patent things you came up with that don't already exist, but our patent office workers are so overextended that we'll patent anything not entirely obvious as already having been created so long as it gets off of our desk.".
In either event, mojang did NOT steal from the mods. While you can claim they stole the idea, that holds no legal bearing without a patent to back it up, and I doubt someone could win a patent case claiming someone infringed on their idea to add monster parts to a game as placeable objects and/or furniture, because I'm pretty damned certain that has been done over and over again already, even if it wasn't incredibly common.

There is a "look and feel" visual appearance copyright, and in this case there are even special copyright laws that apply to 3D objects (generally applicable to things like sculptures or architectural objects) which may apply in regards to Minecraft.
There is much more to copyright law than just the raw hex codes for computer software. You need to be careful and damn well know what you are talking about before you go and declare that somebody who makes a mod may have no copyright claim on something like this. Besides, lawyers don't talk in absolutes anyway but nearly always qualify stuff like this with a may or might not.
As for patent law and copyright law getting confused and mixed up here, I generally agree with your sentiments here other than to thank groups like the Walt Disney Corporation and the Motion Picture Association of America for really screwing up those kind of laws as they try to squeeze out the last dime of profit out of the stuff they and their members make. If it was just confined to the USA for screwed up laws that would be one thing, but sadly the EU, Japan, and other countries who participate with the WIPO (a part of the United Nations) have been messing with each other's laws to give us the current international copyright issues that exist today. The real world politics gets ugly here, especially as ordinary citizens rarely don't care about these issues when it comes time to elect people to public office... but big companies like Electronic Arts, Nintendo, and Activision sure make a stink about it and tend to write the laws for their benefit as it applies to video games... or rather drop huge piles of money as "campaign donations" to those elected officials who are sympathetic to their viewpoint. Sometimes that screwed up process produces laws so confusing that nobody knows what the law really says on something like this.
Mojang has generally been pretty decent to the community, one of the reasons why we have so many mods and that there is talk of a formal API that mod developers can use in a future update. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to Mojang because they certainly have a whole bunch of goodwill going in their direction over issues like this, and frankly the Mojang terms of service licenses are some of the most generous in the industry outside of perhaps an open source software license. This is perhaps just a very minor point and I would dare say just a minor blemish in an otherwise stellar record that Mojang has in regards to licensing terms and respecting user community efforts to help improve the game. If Jeb honestly says that the idea was something they came up with on their own completely, I'm fine with that. Just don't go bullshitting on something like this if it isn't true.
Ha! Glad i'm not the only 35 year old playing this game.
I made a quick video showing off all the new features of the new snapshot as well as the use of heads as stairs.

Yes. Some of them have replied to this post.
Do not open the file you download. It's not a zip file, no matter what Windows tells you. It's a jar file. In fact, it's a minecraft.jar file
Rename it to minecraft.jar. Watch out, because Windows may try to "help" you and name it minecraft.jar.zip
Copy that minecraft.jar OVER your current one. Make a backup if you wish, but it's not necessary.
That's it. I promise.
