This week, Mojang developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten is on vacation! Unfortunately, this means that there will be no Snapshot this week. However, there is a silver lining: Programmer and man-about-town Nathan "Dinnerbone" Adams revealed that the 1.4 update would likely be out before Halloween (October 31st)! Witches, Withers, and bats - all in time for the spooky season.
I personally plan on wandering around with a skeleton head. Whether in-game or out, I won't say.
MCX360 Updates - Goodies, Future Patches
MCX360 is seeing a medley of goodies on the horizon. The future 1.8.2 update in particular has a lot in store - new monsters, ravines, Strongholds, and so much more - perhaps most poignant is the addition of Creative mode! While the release date has not yet been established, it is expected to be reviewed - and ultimately released - in the very near future, with CERT submission happening some time in the next week or so. Want to see some of these exciting changes in action? Mojang has a massive list of preview videos for your viewing pleasure - check them out by clicking here!
In the meantime, a whole pile of Minecraft goodies is available for your XBLA avatars! If you haven't had a chance to check them out, now is a great time - click the picture below for some screenshots!

MineTV - "Railcraft" creator, CovertJaguar
This week's MineTV has a very exciting guest: the creator of the popular Railcraft mod, CovertJaguar! As with last week's episode, spaces in the stands will be on a first-come-first-serve basis - details are below!
When: Today (Wednesday, September 26th) at 7:00 (19:00) EST
Where: We will be streaming at the official MineTV channel, which is Link Removed
We will let people know how to gain entry to the studio audience a bit before we go live, so be sure to arrive early if you want entry!
Who: Railcraft creator, CovertJaguar!
Not familiar with the sheer awesome of Railcraft? Wondering exactly what it adds to the game? It could easily be summarized by saying it has a massive list of rail types, crafting options, tools, blocks, and more, but the description alone really doesn't do this incredible mod justice. So, check out the Railcraft thread, try the mod out for yourself, and see why thousands of gamers are hooked on Railcraft!
Just a word of caution - make sure you understand high-speed rails before attempting to use them!
"I remember when this awhile back. Now we sit and play the PC, Portable, and Xbox 360 all the time. Good times when this post was first added to the site!"
I am pretty scared it seems like the mod API will be delayed to another future version.
Yeah, it has been pretty quiet (scarily quiet) on the Mod API front for a while now hasn't it? Reminds me of last year and again the year before that. Oh well; at least this time I actually do have some confidence that something will come out eventually, even if not anywhere near another predicted time frame.
Right now though my secret hope of hopes is that Jeb (who has been very quiet himself for a long time now) is secretly working on a covert Occulus Rift update for Minecraft like notch asked him to!! I want to spin up Minecraft on my Occulus Dev Kit the minute I open the package this December!
I really think it is about time Mojang gave Jeb some much needed backup instead of trying to pretend their whole company doesn't exist and that they should invest so little money helping him out to improve the game!
They seem to always miss a week (most of the time) for 1.4. Also the release date has been on the wiki for a while now, but I guess you don't care. Seriously, if they do not release the Modding API in 1.4 I will be pretty much screaming my head off (no I won't). It would be cool if there was a command that sent you to the nether, but only if you were op. Or even better there could be a mod command where you get more commands and things than ops, like ops can do basic, tp, help, etc, but mods can do every command. So only mods can use nether command as mods are more trustworthy, plus using the nether command can lag you a lot!
This is the biggest ******** I've read in a while. Just because one guy goes on vacation, and thousands of people have to wait for an update. I'm slowly losing my faith in Minecraft if I'm really honest.
You serious? Its a pre release, not an update. It is just for testing, not for playing, so you cant wait another week for a beta build? Rly go outside, there is what normal guys called "real life".
I'm actually rather disappointed that there's been no word about the API. Don't get me wrong, I love Minecraft and Mojang and am thankful to have found this awesome community and all the people involved but it's getting frustrating that we keep getting promised this API and then it doesn't happen.
1.3.2 was supposed to be the 'gateway' to the API support, and with having to pretty much recode mods from scratch a lot of the big/popular ones haven't even updated yet. Some are waiting for the 1.4 release because we were promised the API, and if that's not going to happen then that just makes it more difficult for everyone.
And don't say "Oh, just don't update your game" because that's not a solution. I'm still in 1.2.5 and that means what few mods I use that have moved into 1.3.2 have new features that I can't use yet, in addition to the new features of the game. I don't want to be behind forever, you know?
Oh, and have a nice vacation Jeb! You've earned it, and I'm sure the community won't collapse while you're gone ^^
It doesn't phase me if Mod API gets delayed, end of the day I would rather wait for a complete release than a broken one, imagine how many people will rage on forums if API came out riddled and full of bugs and crashes? ye.. not nice.
If they were to release a snapshot, their won't be anything new because they have already said they think they have added everything they wanted for this update so if anything it would of just been a bug fix.
Actually half way through October they are adding new sounds and more sounds. Like enderdragon sounds, wither sounds, more music, and more sounds for everything else.
And everyone complaining that the mod api hasnt been touched on. 1.3 WAS the gate way for the mod API.
They finished the first large step into it - merging client and server. They were planning on doing the actual mod api in 1.4, but then decided 1.4 will be a content halloween update, and 1.5 will be the API.
the issue with Wolves/Dogs teleporting up to the player has been there a long time.
if they were made to stay sitting and not teleport up nearly every time the player goes out of range and comes back, this would be nice.
more so, if people wanted to call up any dogs within range, there could be a "dog whistle" item or similar.
or, maybe, they will not teleport across fences (or if they are within a certain range of fences), such as to allow the creation of "dog yards": considers teleporting, notices within N blocks of a fence, doesn't teleport.

Did the MineTV episode happen?
I was on my com refreshing the page for bout an hour, nothing happened.
I'm thinking it got cancelled or the mod maker had something important show up, or, just maybe, it isn't live. =O
