Just because a game you love just became available for people who either don't have PC that can play minecraft or just prefer console gaming we have to throw a **** storm? Sorry that you don't want new people to experience such a great game.
I know it's my first post, but I want to hopefully explain why I'm more nervous than excited for this announcement.
Notch seems like a gamer, so I'm shocked that this is something he'd want to do in the first place. Microsoft has a long history of being notoriously unfriendly to indie developers. Even worse, they have a history of being ridiculously hard to update content for.
Now Valve with TF2 realized that they couldn't hold up content they were developing for the game proper(PC) because Microsoft takes forever to ever implement any updates to anything, let alone for free.
If this doesn't effect the speed of development in terms of the game for PC gamers, then it's a perfect win and totally understandable why you do this if you're Notch. But if things start bottle-necking because they're worried about getting updates to the 360 version of the game, holding back content from the PC, then there's a problem. Not to mention I don't think I have seen a kinect game that wasn't on rails, so to speak.
If features are left out of a game that's coming out very shortly in terms of a development cycle to just get this working on 360 to make more money, you're going to lose a lot of goodwill you've developed with your fanbase. Please do not underestimate how important a fanbase can be with a game, especially this one. It's probably going to be gangbusters for money income for them, but it really does open up a nasty Pandora's box here.
"Notch said that this and this and this would be in the finished version of the game but it's not, so he must be too focused on getting the other version working!"
"Notch doesn't update the game nearly as fast anymore, so he must be spending too much time getting the other version working!"
I have faith, but now I'm worried when there wasn't any concern before.
Im an xbox gamer primary and a pc gamer secondary, however i still believe myself to be of standard worthy of these forums. You "PC Elite's" need to recognise the difference between console gamers and the 10 year olds that hid within it
They are not hid within' it.
The adults and teenagers are hid within' it. The kids are everywhere.
can everyone shut the **** up for one god damn minute? chances are, cod and halo fanboys wont even play the game. and if they did, then they most likely played it on pc first and most likely already knew about the forums. are you people seriously expecting in the beta thread people to start posting a flood of topics about how good the xbox is? or how bitchin the new mw3 game is gonna be? i highly doubt that. this is only a good change as mojang is going to get more income and can better minecraft on a whole. thats my two cents
**** NO **** NO. One question. Why is this only released on the Xbox? I'm going to be less likely to play now since I've been getting some new games on the PS3. I would be happy if this was a PS3/Xbox release, but it isn't. This may completely solidify my choice to move to Terraria unless a PS3 Minecraft is confirmed before this Fall. And please god almighty make these motion controls optional, they all suck.
