Time for a new snapshot! One big difference this time is that you don’t need the server jar to play single-player - more and more, the process is being refined for ease of use. Change log is below!
Villagers will trade items (They are notoriously cheap, however)
Added a “currency item”
A few minor terrain changes
A new useful block/item (requires obsidian)
Added a /seed command for showing the map seed
Added sandstone stairs
A lot of smaller changes and fixes

Some points of interest discovered already:
Possible TNT traps in the world
Ender Chest (Sort of like a chest network - place two different Ender Chests and place items in either, and they will appear in any other Ender Chests you have placed. It glows a bit.)
Emerald and Emerald Ore (used with Villagers)
Made Buckets stackable.
Added Snow to Creative Inventory.
NPC Villages change style according to their biome.
Stars are more realistic.
They are now slightly smaller and slightly brighter.
Changed Gravel texture.
Improved Options menu.
Added Pyramids.
Added a second Golden Apple made with Blocks of Gold.
After being consumed, the player receives 30 second Regeneration IV, plus Resistance and Fire Resistance for 5 minutes.
Dispensers will eject Water and Lava source blocks (from buckets); Will also take water and lava source blocks if there is an empty bucket inside
Of course, with any update there's always a few bugs - some of the most relevant ones are listed below (take note of "old world corruption in particular!):
Emerald Ore has the wrong texture.
Loading a world from a previous version corrupts it.
Generated structures are very buggy.
New Golden Apple does not appear in the creative mode inventory screen.
Villager Trading for items worth more than one emerald doesn't work if you place the emeralds one by one.
When removing the last Ender Chest, no items are ejected, and you must place a new one to retrieve the items. (may not be a bug)
Single player still thinks it requires server/minecraft_server.jar. A blank file with the same name can be used.
When generating a superflat world, you will get chunk errors - there will be some chunks generated in default, and the other are generated in superflat.
Stacked buckets don't pick up fluids. Instead, the fluid just disappears.
Any idea what the "minor terrain changes" are? I haven't seen anybody mention anything. I wouldn't count new structures as part of the terrain, so I hope it's something else...
Lets see, from short experience in playing snapshot:
- Emeralds are the new currency, it appears the old red coins from the image was replaced. Emerald ore is miscolored and looks like ruby ore. Guessing that'll be fixed in next snapshot/official release.
- Villagers offer a single item of their own for emeralds, meaning you'll have to look through the villagers to find who offers what.
- Some villagers will take items for emeralds, though they're rare. One villager I found wanted 14 books and offered a single emerald.
- Ender Chests are like the vault/piggy bank on Terraria, where it acts as a teleporting device. Have one in base and one in mine, put stuff you got in mine into the box and when you go home, you'll find the same stuff in the second box. The content also travels between dimensions and glows a tiny bit. To make an enderchest, you put 8 obsidian in a square like you would make a normal chest, then place eye of ender in the middle.
Thats cool! But in the snapshot, they didn't use Emerald, but some other kind of Ruby like thing. Perhaps a change? Well it doesn't matter, because thats pretty awesome...

It is emerald. I believe they were going to use ruby as the currency but something changed recently and they decided to make it emerald instead. They just simply forgot to recolor the ore.
I'm trying it out! Um... I don't have sound. It's not the openAL (I don't remember it's full file name) issue, cause I can adjust volume for the game without crashing. But at 100% music/sound and my computer volume maxed, no sound.

Bug maybe?
^ I went afk for a few minutes, come back and there's sound. Weird...

Yeh sure
same about the emeraled ore.

Jeb has already said many times that he is going to change this system.
Bug maybe?
Obviously you didn't read well enough, because it clearly says that emerald ore has the wrong texture right now.
And it takes 5 minutes to change textures. If you don't like it, just change it back.
They didn't work on it at all last week. They were busy with other things.
