Minecraft has hit over 6,000,000 (six million) sales, and just shy of 30 million registered users! The game continues growing, and so does the player-base; MCX360 has definitively sold over a million copies, and the Pocket Edition easily doubles those numbers.
It's almost impossible to really grasp the totality of how far Minecraft has come, and how much Mojang has grown. What will the next major landmark be for the smash-hit sandbox game, and the blockbusting team behind it?
All told, it is believed that Minecraft has sold over 9 million copies on every platform for which it is currently available. In the last 24 hours, 83,284 people have registered at minecraft.net, and 8,994 people bought the game, just on the PC platform, in that time. Minecraft also celebrated its third birthday almost two weeks ago today.
Good job, Minecraft, although the past 24 hours stats aren't the best they've ever had. Believe it or not, I've seen 24 hour stats where there are close to 125,000 new registered users and 15,000 new buyers. Hard to believe that two or three years ago no one knew about Minecraft, and now it is a hit all over the PC.

I'm still using Windows 7.
I said this. Two days later, my computer's motherboard melted down and I had to get a new one with Windows 8.
Wow just 300,000 shy of diablo 3 at launch. And that's not taking into account xbox and app sales. Steadily growing player base with decently regular feature updates. I have a feeling in the longrun minecraft will outdo that game in sales. There's just something truly unique about the minecraft experience.
Um.. I love D3 btw. Not bashing. But it's a different game. I play it when I don't feel very creative and I just want to kill things.
Minecraft tickles my brain more.
