And what he 'did do' is part of why Yogscast had lost 20% of their subscribers. Apologizing is what would make him a decent person. But he hasn't, even though I'm sure by now he knows what effect it had.
But I have a feeling he doesn't care, because it's not him.
Technically he kind of has, but either way, even I would have waited for their reply/side of the story before I'd simply say 'sorry', especially if I got that information secondhand.
I'm going to drop my five cents in, even though it probably won't change anyone's opinion on anything.
Firstly, Everyone (yes, even you Notch Fan Boys) must agree that the way Notch handled his complaints were in bad taste. There is no reason to have twittered attacks against the Yogscast. If he had complaints, and he wanted everyone to see them, he should of written them on his Tumblr and included some kind of evidence for them. He should not have left short, cryptic messages on twitter for everyone to read.
Secondly, to adress the issue of the whole swearing. Anyone who has even seen a Yogcast video, or listened to a Yogcast Podcast, or really has ever heard anything of them, knows they swear. The swearing isn't bad, or harsh. It isn't aimed at anyone nor is it, when taken in context, generally rude. The swearing I heard when watching their panel wasn't bad, most of it was aimed at being funny, and there honestly wasn't that much of it. As for the whole "There are kids there and blah blah blah." Foremost, your kids are at a convention for a game that has many adult players, you shouldn't expect them to taylor themselves to fit what you deem appropriate. Also, the people going into the panel should have been aware of what they were getting into, if you are going to see a panel from The Yogcast then your probably know who they are, and therefore should know there will be cussing. Finally, Mojang and Notch can't fault the Yogscast. As they stated, there was plenty of time for something to be said. If they didn't like the cursing then they should of said "Please keep it PG" instead of OKing their show, and then complaining about it afterwards. Having respect for both parties, I can't help but think if Mojang did say something then the only reason the Yogscast didn't change is because they never heard.
Thirdly, to adress the person who said "What seems more likely? The Yogscast is lieing through their teeth to save their own skin because they have more to lose, or Notch who has no concievable reason to want to tear apart such a bonus to his games popularity." The answer of course, would be the Yogscast. It does seem more likely they would lie. But, i must ask you a question in turn. What seems more likely? Notch was drunk, heard some rumors, and exploded (as he has been known to do) leaving nasty comments on his twitter with little to No basis, or the Yogscast acted in a way they've never acted before, being rude not only to their fanbase but also a person they obviously respect.
Finally, what will end up happening. The Yogscast has handled this in a mature manner while Notch acted without thought. Notch will write a reply, saying something along the lines of "I was out of bounds, and i apologize, but you did do some things that weren't right. You apologized, I've apologized, and i hope we can put this behind us. See you next Minecon." Why is this the obvious outcome? Notch started this, and so he must stop it. That is why he will have to apologize to them. He obviously didn't do this just because he wanted to, and so he will point out that the Yogscast was not perfect, but they did apologize. He'll want to put this behind him simply because, while they are not the only reason for its popularity, they are responsible for a very large ammount of Minecraft coverage. Their videos get onto the main page everytime, they get thousands of views per video, and they have over a million subcribers. They have helped minecraft grow, no one can say that isn't true. It really would be stupid for him to not want to get back on good terms and put this behind them.
Anyways, there it is as I see it. Hopefully some of you will agree.
my guess at what really happened being totally objective.
I think notch found their shows foul language offencive
I think he saw only one half of a conversation (For example rude fan is a little extra pressing and notch sees them cross out a name on a sheet and tell them to go away)
Notch is tired and posts his anger
I also think that seeing as we don't have the whole story yogscast was probably a little unplessant (due to long hours)
My final opinion is Notch overreacted and Yogscast played to an older audience than minecraft and were a bit offencive with their speach that I understand to have included swears
Well considering what has transpired already, I think Notch should definitely apologies to Yogcast for being immature and not handling the situation right. I'm not saying that Yogcast or Notch is wrong, I'm saying Notch should anyway because of his tweets, Yogcast are losing subs(some could say money) and their website is being attacked.
I don't think an apology from Mojang is going to be enough, since it started from Notch himself, not his team.
Its good that Yogscast replied from Notch's tweets, but both arguments still seem to have some misunderstandings on what they meant to do.
Maybe Notch took everyday Yogscast humor "cussing, insulting, immature comments" as a serious offence, but that doesn't clear up on the hate, threats, and rants that many gave Notch after MineCon, if that in fact is true.
Botch need to speak directly to each other and figure this out, or if they are lazy, play a friendly game of Quake 3 to see who's right
its not our arguement. We should just leave it to the 2 parties. Sure now its our business now but still we have no right picking sides to some misunderstandings. I like the yogscast and the videos they make and i also like notch and i still want to thank him for making minecraft, but after seeing what both of them wrote about the *incident* its not our place to pick sides on the misunderstanding with no real basis to place it on other then a drunk notch and the tired yogscast crew. We should really just fk off and let them umm how do u say it.....differentuate? or something like tht, their problems
It's understandable that this is all a misunderstanding between the two parties. But I glad to see that the Yogscast came out after resting and gave a mature statement, unlike Notch whom ranted all over Twitter.
Truly, I feel Notch should NOT of said anything and should of kept this between him and the Yogs, this is between them and not us(the public), due to the fact that this is really none of our(the public) business. I feel so freaking sorry for both parties because they are getting threats and so on from fanboys of the opposite party. And if Notch wanted to make a statement to the public he should of calmed down first and then said something.
I think Notch should come out and make a statement apologizing to the public for "...airing his dry laundry..." I say this because though there are people around my age(18+) that play Minecraft; and we all know for a fact that most of the players are children whom also follow his posts on Twitter and react strongly to most of whatever he says, due to the fact that they look up to him.
[Please understand, I am doing my best to stay unbiased and to keep a open mind with the ordeal.]
@skable
of course it never should have been made public, but once its public, you might as well wish you could stuff toothpaste back in the tube for all the good it does.
and especially if yogs is getting DDOS'd because of notch's words, then it becomes ESPECIALLY relevant, because he's done them CONCRETE HARM.
this is the first I'm hearing about DDOS attacks, but if notch caused that, AND the accusations aren't true...
well... common sense is that people will be rightfully angry.
I know nothch has fired off at the moth before without really thinking. it is what it is. It's him and his personality to do so.
Now after reading what I have on the internet and taking into account the only thing I ever heard heard or seen lends credence to what notch tweeted. I don't know what when down but having the knowledge of both parties yogs is more suspect that they are trying to back pedal and cover tracks. In my realm they already had a bad name o sorts so take it for what it is. I see what they wrote as a political move to cover their backsides but we will never know the whole truth of the situation anyway

This is what bugs me the most about the situation. What in the world lends credence to Notch's statements? Angry twitter posts are not exactly a valid method of discourse to present reasoned/valid concerns.
Simon, Lewis and haannah, would never do that stuff, well the crude humor I can buy , but not the other stuff, it's like Marios jump to sonics spin dash, breaking bricks to tearing through terrain
And both most people here and the Yogscast got one thing wrong: Notch never said they "crossed out his autograph and said '**** you' to the kid", he said they "said they should cross out his autograph and write '**** you' instead". Which I believe never happened, because as has been said, the only time the Yogscast saw Notch was during the interview, so Notch probably got the information second-hand, and we all know that for every Yogscast fan there's between 0.5 and 2 Yogscast haters (and millions who haven't even heard of them), and many of these haters know how prone to cursing they (Yogscast) can get in their videos.
WTF how do you know these assholes are telling the truth? There just covering there asses... -__-
because what they said makes so much more sense than what notch says.
I mean, you realize that if they're lying about notch selling rights to IGN, that can be debunked EASILY. like, to the point where it would be suicide to say it if it isn't true.
on the other hand, everything that notch says is uncorroborated, and contrary to everything we know about the character of the yogs guys. not to mention that notch has apparently flown off the handle with people before.
In the interview, they discussed trolling if they woke up in Notch's body. Perhaps he thought it humorous to follow up on that joke?
But this thing is silly anyway. Celebrity gossip, HURR DURR. Make a big deal out of it because they took a ****. Don't get in such heated arguments against each other, Minecraft Community. Let them figure it out, spectate if you will, but don't get up hating each other.
Honestly the response is a little fishy and they misquoted what Notch said they did, but this really is as good as it is gonna get if they ever hope to save their reputations. They handled this rather smartly.
Technically he kind of has, but either way, even I would have waited for their reply/side of the story before I'd simply say 'sorry', especially if I got that information secondhand.

I really don't understand these internet though guy that solve every problem in the internet with DDoS.
And after that, they feel like a big hero. Acted like they are pro hackers, the fact is they just used some kind of web-based booter.
