Personally, hoping they tone down the block destruction. They can still trash trees, and launch fireballs (lololol wooden structures are hosed), but if they slam into the ground they knock out a chunk of blocks, not just fly through them like water, breaking them all down.
I would like to see them as unique non-respawning creatures in the main world though. With lairs and territories that they patrol. If you try to build in such a territory you risk getting attacked by a dragon. Further, if you can somehow manage to kill one, you can loot their hoard or even take over their lair, though they are also rife with monster spawners (sort of like a super dungeon). That way you can avoid getting slaughtered by a random spawn, but also give yourself an additional challenge by attempting to live near a dragon.
Lairs could be on top of (or in open-air major chambers) of ruins, in mountain top caverns, or in any number of places.
The majority of dragons can still be in the ender-realm though, but some of the stronger ones should be on the primary plane. Epic battles can ensue!
Looks pretty neat, but what's up with Notch coming up with all these mobs that destroy/grief blocks? Creepers have always been super-annoying... Ghasts make exploring the Nether a hair-pulling experience... Endermen are annoying in more of a smaller-scale (poke poke poke) kind of way... but THESE!? I'm glad they won't be spawning in the regular world cause DAAAMMNNNNN!! That's some crazy-scale obnoxious destruction going on there!

creeepers would be a joke!
Hopfully we will be able to tame the and bring them along with us everywhere in the game!
