much more money can be made if its made for ps3 aswell...or hell even release it on steam and then ps3 and use the steam play thing that valave has made for portal 2 so you can play on a pc smp server on ps3. that would be epic and would make a hell of alot more money then just going to xbox
I think that they will just put the same exact game into the Xbox, and the login menu will serve as the place you get your account from. I just hope the game is free for those who already have the game.
Wow, looking at their website, Mojang has picked a very good development company. Not onlly have 4J studios done popular games for Xbox, they have also done Playstation 3, iPhone/iPod Touch, Wii, and DS. This brings around the high possibility that we will be seeing Minecraft on a favorite platform.
PC has always been the way to go, when keeping mod support in mind. However, a lot of people can barely run Minecraft on their PC so a console version won't be a bad thing. They might even add texture packs to the marketplace for 80-160 MS points.
You could always mod your game if you have a J-tag, or edit the game file with a USB drive. Not much you COULD do, but you could sure as hell fill your inventory up with Diamond blocks. Same as modding Borderlands, it wasn't very difficult to do this. All you had to do was upload the file to your computer, open it with Modio, edit it, save, Rehash and Resign, then put the game save back on your xBox.
And I'm very sure it will include SMP, but if you have this game on PC and can run it very well, I don't see why you should buy the game again on a console, besides playing with friends who don't have a good PC.
i'm betting the 360 version will be markedly different than the pc version. Notch has said that he'd eventually like things like NPCs, dragons, and quests. the 360 version could be less "dig and build" and more "talk, explore, fight, and quest". i imagine non-procedurally generated worlds or a core map that generates once you cross the scripted border (or primarily procedurally-generated worlds that also insert "plot chunks" that spawn with storyline-related items/people/areas coded in), the addition of some non-breakable blocks (so that players can't, say, destroy the castle that the king lives in or whatever / dungeons can be expansive and have elaborate layouts that must be navigated rather than dug through), and a cast of NPCs (in towns, isolated houses, in dungeons) to talk to / interact with. more of a "game" game, and less of a "make your own fun" experience. i think it could be a lot of fun, actually. a very different sort of game than what we have currently, admittedly, but there has always been talk that these sorts of features would be available in a new mode later.in the dev interview he says they're looking at the strengths of each platform and tailoring the experience for each. the xbox is about playing games, pure and simple, so if that bears out i think some wide-market-appeal elements like that could find a ready home. perhaps this would be an outlet for those ideas, allowing Minecraft Core to focus on SSP/SMP instead. and of course you're going to have to buy it, and no you're not going to be able to magically get it onto your xbox without getting it through XBLA. c'mon, people, that's absurd. Notch, you have my full support. more power to all of you, and thank you for all you've done. i've been waiting my whole life to play a game like Minecraft.
