Can't wait for modding support, I've been getting blackscreened alot, and I'm gonna love this. 1.7 sounds great too, it'll give you something to do once you already have a cobble factory making houses with pistons.
Well, hey, it looks like 1.7 will be more than just another annoying bump in the road for us mod users and modders (who have to update after every update). Hopefully, we won't need so many 4 or 5 fixes this time. That was kind of annoying. I can't wait for some of the mods to finally be white-listed or whatever. The best part is modding support on this game will actually mean something, unlike on Unreal Tournament 3. (It was a too little, too late move by Epic, unfortunately.)

"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.
@trencej Won't happen. I've been updating my mods without MCP within a day from an update forever. Not using the source code won't kill my mods. And anyway, Notch will open up "applications" for the source code access later.
Pretty stupid. Pospone the game launch cause of that convention that 90% of the players won't assist. Develop the game in Xbox and Xperia, instead of finishing for god sake the pc version. Come on notch... you are becoming commercial, i thought it was a indie game, just finish this and start developing the game for other consoles.
The developers selected for the source are probably going to be the big ones and the ones that most people recognize Or ones that add unique places into the game. My guess for a few is plastic craft, industrial craft, better blocks Mo's mobs, millenaire, a nether/aether craft mod and maybe cookie craft and battle towers. It seems unlikely they would give it to people that made futuristic or cheap weapons, because it would throw off the normal theme. And probably not to the people who just threw in a few new stones and tools because no one wants a game with fifty different ores.

The PC versions and other platforms are being parrellel developed by seperate teams, with Notch and co still focusing on the PC game as normal. Their development will not detract any time from each other whatsoever.
