Sorry I couldn't tell if it was sarcasm or stupidity.
There is no possible way it could have been either...
That was no where close to sarcasm. Not even close. It was more of question. Not in a serious matter though.
And it can't be stupidity because I know this isn't Reddit. You know I know this isn't reddit. There is no downvote button, no AskReddit threads, no picture at the top that says Reddit. No white background with sky blue bars and banners.
Will the time of the forums bet set back one hour? Even though I have the same timezone? I'm not really sure, there isn't really a place to tell in the forums...
Just judging by the picture in the article, the new version looks quite unattractive. I'll never understand this new trend of major internet and software companies making their websites as ugly as possible without resorting to a lifting their designs directly from bad '90s Usenet sites.
I shall avoid the new version like the plague. I've already got too many unnecessary stressors in my life already without having to stare at wobsites.
Personally, I like it. I have made multiple websites with this type of design and I like it. It looks smooth and... I guess modern? Idk. I like it and prefer it over the original webpage. I can't wait :). Also, it is a bit easier to navigate to me as well, good job!
To be fair, there's a point to saying the theme is unappealing.
This site pushes the limits of brightness I like to tolerate.
The new version is so white that it's an eyesore in certain conditions - such as reading my large television-screen in a pleasantly-lit room instead of looking at a small computer-screen in a brightly-lit workplace. Where a bright room makes a white screen about as inoffensive as a sheet of paper for many, it seems a lot of people don't keep the places where they use the Internet brightly lit. Thus, mostly-white forums are an eyesore (literally, since the screen produces the most light to create white, and staring at bright lights for prolonged periods is hard on the eyes).
Further, you've changed up the icons to another unintelligible batch of random. Okay, I learned to translate full and empty buckets, chests and minecarts, and so on... and now I'm looking at... I don't even know... is that a blue cube with a mountain on each face... it says it's a poll... maybe that's a line-graph... at least there's a mouse-over. And it looks like they all display faded to indicate I've read that thread... So you've got me learning a new set of symbols that mean nothing anywhere but to the art student who threw them at that page because...? It's annoying to have a new batch of icons which seem to offer no benefit over the old ones. It's irritating to see meaningless symbols instead of something that you have recognized for a long time - like showing up and the site's menu is suddenly all in Latin for a laugh. Yeah, it's only a handful of things to learn, but you just slowed people down for no visible gain. Change for no reason is bad.
You're going to see a lot of feedback that boils down to "this is an obnoxious, ugly thing" and sometimes they won't even understand why they find themselves wanting to look away from the mostly-white screen you're providing. You may not even understand it, because your viewing conditions are different.
Is posting all that constructive? Maybe not. All it did was point out a problem to you that I really thought you'd already be aware of. But, then again, you asked for suggestions there, not here.
Can the posts we've made in this forum be brung over to the other forum so that we automatically unlock titles based on that as well? Unless posting posts is not a way to unlock titles anymore...

As my year 4 teacher insisted to us all for a long, long time, there's no such word as brung
On topic though: I noticed when I go to my post count, it says 67 comments and 1826 forum posts. What's the difference, and if they are what I think they are shouldn't they be the other way around? I know I certainly haven't made 1826 threads
when it says people who give valuable feedback will get a special title, what do you mean by valuable feedback? can i have an example so i can understand?
Oh, and I never liked that "Show your creation" is so far down. I always thought, it should be one of the most important subforums.
Juggling the order of forums is unfortunately very difficult, we currently base it off of the popularity of a section (SYC is far down because it's not very popular) but we're aware that by putting a section at the bottom it ensures it stays low in traffic, we're looking at ways to deal with that problem.
Anyway - I don't see a reason yet why we would need another forum.
Can somebody explain it to me please?
The new forum software provides tons of new features, it also includes a brand new content management system for news / pages and resolves numerous outstanding issues on the forum, including improved stability and more mobile friendly. Moving to the new software will allow us to ensure that long term the forum is the best forum it can be, on the current forum software we're hitting the limits of what we can do.
Does this mean that attempting to edit threads won't be like storming the beaches of Normandy anymore? That's all I really care about.
Yes! That is the worst bug in the world and it's completely resolved on the new platform, also a brand new feature is included called "Revision History", Revision History allows you to see every previous edit to your posts and you can revert back to any of them at any time.
Feel free to play around with this feature in the "Test" section of the beta forum, make a post, edit it, refresh the page, edit some more, then use the "Post History" drop down to see everything!

Hmm, to me the beta is no brighter than the live website but as you say I'm working in a brightly lit room. Can you provide some information on which parts of the site are too bright? An annotated screenshot would be hugely helpful!

A "comment" is a comment on a news article and "post" includes anything made on the forum: posts and threads. The comment count originally included profile comments but we've removed that because of potential for abuse.
EDIT: Also, I think that the brown headers, titles, buttons, etc look terrible. I know that Minecraft has dirt and all... but it doesn't look good. Grey, Blue or Green would look nice.
It looks like you're trying to merge the old style of 3D elements with flat, pastel colours which looks absolutely awful and childish. The current interface style, while looking rather dated at this point, is both usable (not overly contrasting, as opposed to the excessive green- and brown-on-white in the beta forum) and decent looking.
That green doesn't even look like Minecraft grass green.

I'm excited for the new features, but as far as the look goes, I don't think I'm alone in not liking it. It loses a lot of the "Minecrafty" feel to it, and the toolbar at the top looks like something out of the NES, but with smooth edges. It doesn't need to look exactly like the current version, but just toning down the colors and making minor adjustments to make it look more similar to this version would go a long way, like making the background the same light blue as the current version, and also making the forum icons into chests again would be nice.
EDIT: What I'd also really like to see is updating the emoticons and the default Steve avatar to use the correct, most recent textures. It's silly, and probably confuses some new people, to see the primary forums for the game use textures that weren't in the game for years.
Mod author. Too lazy to list mods, go here instead.
Help out the Official FTB Wiki reach a billion pages! (I keep having to update this, so let's just make it a billion)

I usually have a neutral/undecided standpoint on things. And yes, I am part Swiss.
So basically, I'm stupid.
I shall avoid the new version like the plague. I've already got too many unnecessary stressors in my life already without having to stare at wobsites.
Also check me out on:
WordPress, Etsy, and Spore.
Exactly. Broken post formatting on edits are a thing of the past.
Thanks for the constructive feedback!

Posts that provide anything that is useful to us, for example this is valuable feedback because they provide an idea and explain how they think it might work: http://beta.minecraftforum.net/forums/beta/forum-beta-feedback/2081370-themes
If you can elaborate that would be appreciated!

I've seen a few comments regarding the icons, I've made a note and we'll look into improving the icons.
What is wrong with the avatars? We can make changes if there's something we've missed!
