I feel that Minecon should alternate between the U.S. and Europe. These are the 2 most heavily populated locations by Minecrafters. If it were to follow this, next year would be in the U.S. I feel that it should be in the center of the country to get the most amount of people to get to it. This would place Chicago as the best place for Minecon to be held in 2013. My opinion is very fluid though, so I'm pretty open minded on where it should be held.
I also see many players from Canada playing and users from the U.S. would be able to get to it easily. Therefore, if I had to chose from the list above, I would choose Ontario, Canada.
As a resident of New Zealand, I feel as though we're left out. Going to America is such a long and expensive journey and our pay so low, going to overseas even to Australia is too expensive.
I think Minecon should be closer to Australia and New Zealand next year, because there is also a big community down here and most of us can't make it to America.
Then again, folks in America would also find it hard to travel to Australia because it is also a big and expensive journey.
Australia would still be an ideal place because it is beautiful and there is so much things to do there. And accommodation would not be a problem.
My opinion is South America. Why? well first of it is something new and exotic. It is also has great tourist attractions so you can enjoy other things + mine con. There are also many Brazilian and Spanish gamers that would love to go to Minecon but can't most of the time.

Excellent choice. Since Toronto is extremely close to the border, it wouldn't be that much of a hassel for American players.

Yes, it would be hard for people from america, but I did include Australia, and if my atlas is correct, Sydney is the closest city to New Zealand.
I think it should be held in Vancouver, Canada because its easily accsessable from the US, Japan, Australia, England etc. PLUS Vancouver has a very big population! The thing with Toronto, is Its like in the middle of Canada (Im over-exadurating) and with Australia, its ALL the way in Oceania, henceforth making it accsessable easily from Japan, but not as much Sweeden Or Canada or The US. And then in Britan, would be really close to where to where Minecon 2012 is.

Hmm... You make a good point with Vancouver, but as you stated, Toronto is somewhat in the middle of Canada, making it accessible from, not only Japan and Australia, but also Europe.
Yes, I know it's slightly farther away from Australia and Japan, but in North America and Europe is where the highest Minecraft population density lies, making Toronto a more ideal location.
everyone just wants it where they live. And the richest fan are going to be there for shure.
Just take that into consideration. Solution http://www.minecon.se/ anyone can come and takits are free, nuff sead
So, where exactly is Minecon 2013 going to be held? That's a question that I hear floating around the forums a lot, and I hear a lot of arguments over where it should be... Well, where is an ideal location? Here are some factors that we must take into play.
1.) We had Minecraft 2012 in the United States, and we're having Minecraft 2013 in France, so we should let others have a chance to get a Minecon.
Since everything's fairly close together in Europe, and since Minecraft originated from Sweeden, I think it's likely we'll have another one there soon, so I think other places should get the opportunity to experience it.
2.) The highest density of Minecraft users are in (Not including United States or Europe)
Canada
Eastern Asia
Australia
3.) How difficult it is to travel around the places
Canada - Good
Eastern Asia - Mediocre
Australia - Mediocre (Only because it's good transportation covers such a small land mass.)
4.) Concentrations. Let's say Mojang chose Canada. They should know where in Canada they should go. I think they should choose a very populated area without being too crowded.
Canada - Toronto, Ontario
Eastern Asia - Tokyo, Japan
Australia - Sydney, New South Wales
5.) Accessibility to other high density Minecraft user areas.
Canada - Toronto is very close to the border of the United States meaning that a lot of people from both Canada and the United States can have a chance to go, and it's still not very far away for people from Japan.
Eastern Asia - Japan is fairly far away from North America and Australia, but it's on the other side of the planet from Europe, making it the opposite of ideal since the Minecraft population density isn't very .
Australia - Australia is very isolated, making it fairly hard for anyone to go to a Minecon there from North America, but somewhat okay for Japan or Eastern Asia..
6.) Language. More than 60% of Minecraft users can speak English, making Japan a very unreasonable place to hold a Minecon, for less than 8% of the people who play Minecraft speak Japanese.
In conclusion, Toronto, Ontario, Canada would be a very ideal location for Minecon 2013 because it is near the United states, allowing at least 2 countries to experience a Minecon, Toronto, Ontario is very dense with the Minecraft population, and Canada has a very organized transportation.
These seem like the most logical factors and places we should have Minecon 2013 at. If you have any other factors or places that you would wish for me to take into account, please state your location/factor and give a good reason why that location/factor should be taken into account.
Don't forget to vote for where you think Minecon 2013 should be held above, or give another location/factor to take into account. Thanks!
I don't think Canada should get it since it is way too close to USA, Japan would not be bad but again it is not an english speaking place. And Australia does not have any ideal location to hold around 10'000 people without it being a place cramed in. Even though I live in NZ(New Zealand) I do not agree with any of these(NZ is next to Aussie)
I personally would vote for Canada because, it would make a change to the location of minecon and not only because I live here its that toronto is only five hours from the capitol, ottawa and i know a metric ton of people who play minecraft here in ottawa. It also makes an easy drive for people who live in the us.
I'm pretty sure the most players are in the U.S. and it should come back to the U.S. next year. But this time around, it should be in a big city like L.A., Chicago, or New York. Or if Mojang wants to keep up on their Disney desires, Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California(but that's not as big).
Yeah, I would think it would be back in the US too. I agree that Florida (Disney World) or New York City would be the place to have it.
NYC is likely the easiest place for foreigners to fly into and also very easy to get around because of the subways and cabs.
Are there any statistics about the turnout of Minecon 2012 (France) compared to Minecon 2011 (Vegas)? I wouldn't expect many Americans would be heading overseas because the majority of US players are young and most likely do not have passports. It may be a surprise to you Europeans, but having a passport in the US is quite uncommon. Only about 1/3 have them here, and I would think they are mostly held by the older population. Compared to 3/4 of Europeans who have passports. I travel quite frequently but have only left the country 3 times, two of which were in the past couple years. It is quite expensive to travel from America to Europe.. like, if I was traveling with my girlfriend, it would be about as expensive as buying a decent used car.
I don't think attendance numbers will ever matter in regards to Minecon, as it only accepts a very small pool of people in comparison to other conventions. So no matter what continent it is in, it will always sell out, even if no out-of-continenet travelers made it. The fact that they don't release schedules until the last minute and still get sold out kinda proves the point. No matter what they do, there will be a full Minecon.
Well, we could always host minecon at Ontario Place or something and have the biggest Minecon yet!... actually, Disney Land Paris is probably bigger :3 Anyways, you make a good point about it always getting sold out, but they could always make more is they get a bigger venue! Plus, by the time Minecon 2013 comes, there'll be way more people willing to go than there is now!

What do you mean Canada's "way too close to the USA?" If anything, that's a good thing because a lot of the Minecraft community comes from there.
I was about to agree with you, then I saw the tiny "who cares" at Asia. And that is where I want it, but then it's a bit closer to my country, but so is Japan, so I vote for Japan!
You obviously didn't read the forum post properly, its about OTHER locations, so more/different peopel can go to Minecon!!

Well, ad I've Already stated, it's extremely likely to have another Minecon in Europe, so, for now, I'm canceling it out.

You mean we had America 2011 and France 2012.
(sorry English[No offence])

I want it to be in Canada so badly.
