I saw a video of a guy in Paris who has his cape, I live in the U.S and I still don't have it, is there a code they sent out or something? I don't have it...

I am curious as well. Do they e-mail you a code of some sort?

Only someone who already has their cape can answer this...

Why couldn't they just have it automatically go to the name in the name slot on the ticket page, instead of having an e-mail required...

I don't have my cape either. But it's saturday, and the capes are just released (according to a tweet of mollstam). Don't worry.
