As many of you may already know, if you load up a world with a bonus chest you will get basic tools to help you being adventuring. This is a good addition for those of you who have to make a new world after every single update. What some of you may not know however, is that if you take all the contents of the bonus chest then exit and save the game you will get another bonus chest once you load up that same world again.
Wouldn't it be a great idea if for the TU10 update (hopefully the jungle update) that 4J would put in jungle saplings from 1-3 inside these bonus chests. That way on the day of the jungle update, people wouldn't have to load up another world just to have jungles! Now people who have created worlds with bonus chests can just exit and save and then *bam* they get 1-3 jungle tree saplings so now thet can continue playing on their existing worlds! You also don't have to stop there, maybe they can put in 1-3 nether warts within the chest in case your world is missing some and maybe just put every kind of sapling in the chest from 1-3.
What do you guys think? I personally think this would be great for people who have created new worlds after the TU8 update so that way they can continue playing on those worlds. No more fussing about having to delete a world every 3 months or so just to catch up to the PC version.
If you guys agree with this then please tweet at 4J studios about the idea of putting in every type of sapling into the bonus chest when the TU10 update comes out!
That can work as a double edged sword in a way, especially if they ever decide that the bonus chest would only appear 1 time. When the trees grow, the leaves on it don't always produce saplings. That is where the problem lies. Jungle trees have an even lower rate of sapling harvest from grown trees. So you may not get 1 per tree, and you may not get enough to replant them.
I can only hope that 4J doesn't follow the PC in that respects, due to the fact it is quite difficult to get a jungle sapling at times from 1 tree.
Now if the bonus chest is not messed with, then we can get more jungle saplings at least from the chest. So in a way it is good that you can get the saplings, but you still will not have the terrain that goes with it. For some this is good and some it is not so. Still an interesting idea though. hmm...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
If you don't get any saplings the first time then you can always just reload the world and try again. Some people (like myself) don't want the terrain that is associated with a jungle, I just want the tree itself so I can get different coloured wood. I could care less about ocelots to be honest ...
Also, if they do decide to make the chest only appear once per person then you could always just invite people who have never been to your world and take the jungle saplings from their chest! Or you could just try doing it on splitscreen?
Like I said it is a good idea as long as they don't change the bonus chest any. I like the fact it makes a new one every time you boot up your map. After all it is just basic stuff in the chest, nothing truly extravagant. But good to start off with.:D
For me though as I said I happen to be one that would make a new world since i want the biome terrain n all. I know there are people on both sides on this... Each person play in their own way.

Yep. Putting in maybe a random bunch of saplings whether they are birch, spruce, oak, or jungle wouldn't be cheap at all to start with. I really do hope 4J studios goes through with this.
I couldn't help but notice that in my 1.9 world random patches of grass changed into the dark green since the TU9 update. I wondered why this would be since no new biomes were added with the Tu9. Could these possibly be where jungles will be spawned when the Tu10 update goes live? Are any of you guys noticing these dark green patches of grass popping up in your world? If they are the spots for where jungles will spawn then I really hope that 4J Studios adds jungle saplings to bonus chests so that way we can plant them in these green patches!
I also loaded up my same seed and for some reason these green patches were forest biomes. Strange, maybe they are just place holders for the jungle biomes since both jungles and forests share the same coloured grass.
The Jungle biome will have quite a lighter color than that. It will not be a dark green like that, it will be green but maybe vibrant a little... Not as vibrant as the mooshroom biome when you place a grass block there, although I would mind it being so. And yeah kind of about the forest and jungle sharing same color, but there is a difference. I think the grass will be slightly darker than forest, not by much. If they do use the same color then well... I guess I be wrong... We will have to wait and see when those come out.
Anyway looks like you added some to it, and yeah after creating world after world I would have to agree having more than just the one sapling and chance for each to spawn in the chest. Although that would be impossible to get on my 1.7.3 world, since those did not exist then...lol oh well... what can you do...:D

I like this idea. It would be good if other new renewables appeared in the chest too, like cactus and vines (I guess that tells you how long I've been building in this world)

The most simplest way of allowing players to obtain jungle saplings in a post TU12 world would be to have lumber jack villagers. They would sell all the different types of wood, vines (maybe), saplings, and maybe other wooden objects such as coloured planks. I think the inclusion of a lumber jack villager would be great for the TU12 update.
I don't see this being too hard to do either. Just take an existing villager and give him a different colour and place wood related objects in the trade bar. Hopefully 4J Studios sees this post.

You will always have villagers. You just need to cure them. Even a 1.6 BETA world can have villagers.
I'd missed that. That's awesome. If they added a "miner" villager as well as the lumberjack, you be able to get all the missing blocks and plants. I see that you can trade stuff to villagers to get emeralds depending on their profession, so I expect you could trade beef to the butcher for emeralds to buy clay from the miner.

Yup. Let's tweet at 4J studios and hopefully we can get this to happen like the blazes dropping glowstone suggestion.

Please 4J studios, please allow us to get jungle saplings from villager trading or bonus chests. You will make everyone who plays on their old worlds truly grateful. We really are getting tired of continuously creating new worlds just to stay updated. One new Xbox exclusive villager is all we need. I'll trade 10 emeralds just for 1 jungle sapling if I have to.

I would love having jungle saplings spawn inside the bonus chest so that I don't have to start a new world!
Hopefully you guys are tweeting this at 4J studios!

You'd need a village for that first.
