This idea has two types of arctic, arctic flatlands would be like a flatland biome but the flat areas are replaced with ice and the hill areas are replaced with snow blocks
there would be villages spawned off in this biome but the houses are igloo's
well the igloo's would be 5x5 inside and would look circular outside, they would have things like cooked beef porkchop and chicken in the chest inside
also there would be dogs outside some igloo's, and a furnace inside with a bed and a crafting table inside
also i dont know about new mobs but if you put a detailed idea for a mob for this biome idea than i will be sure to add it here
also no trees would spawn in this biome
one igloo out of an entire village -like a black smith- would have merchants inside they would sell food maps buckets of water torches soup bread fish and leather armour
Here are a few ideas ive thought of
Polar bear: spawns as often as cows do they drop raw beef and fur and the fur can be used to make fur clothing crafted like ordinary armour but with fur instead of the other materials, there can be up to three polar bears but if there is three there is one ordinary polar bear and two babys, the babys do not drop anything and they die within five minutes without a ordinary sized polar bear at least 20 blocks away, they also attack any mob they see the normal sized polar bear hits you and damages you 3-4 hearts every hit, the babys are friendly and do not attack and im not good with mob health points but it would slightly have more health than a spider
Dog Sled: With this suggestion there would most likely be alot of the arctic biome, so getting around should be easier.. Well for the Arctic flatlands at least you have to have 1 dog on it, you would move around at high speeds -around the speed of a minecart- +the "stand for steve to stand on" would let you stand on it by right clicking, you cannot fall, and you can steer it the same as a pig with a saddle and carrot on a stick but the carrot on a stick wouldent work out for dogs.. maybe a whitle or beef on a stick? i dont know but thats the suggestion
Also i was thinking about the trading system and i think polar bear fur would work nicely for trading with merchants, also maybe a new texture for the arctic villagers like a coat made of fur?
Maybe even rare arctic temples?
they would have some gold rarely diamonds and some fur armour, and even some wood if you have any idea for loot please leave it in the suggestion below
The arctic flatlands are layered with, blocks of snow and beneath that would be blocks of ice and the rest would be water!
also in some areas the flatlands would be melted, the melted areas could look like this!
Here is a example image of the flatland arctic
Now.. the arctic, the arctic has many structures.. tall structures, here is a example of a structure besides there wouldent be water and the structures would be much larger
The arctic is just like the flatland arctic besides it isnt flat and Igloo's dont spawn here, also here is a image of the arctic
And here is what could generate inside of these hills!, they could also lead to caves!
To many images? well go cry about it!
Maybe these biomes could replace some of the ocean biome because the ocean biome is usually very big
and if this idea replaces some of the ocean then there wouldent be a reason for mojang to have a problem with this idea, well im not sure if there are any problems mojang could have with this idea besides just simply not liking it.. But if it replaces some of the ocean biome then they wouldent have to expand the map for more biome space. also these hills would be made of stone with layers of snow blocks covering them, these biomes would be a less common then a tundra, so in all they would be pretty rare like a mushroom biome but a little less rare
Here are some user created ideas
Yeti
It is 3 blocks tall and 2 wide, it has as much health as 3 spiders, it is white, it spawns in caves which generate in the glacier hills, and drops a yeti bone, which turns into 25 bonemeal!
Frost Troll

Please read Post 15, or read it Below, it is pretty much a update on things
Deskepticon says: Wait Im confused. Are the eskimo villagers a different mob from other villagers? How are the merchants different from the regular trading system? I like the idea of an Ice village but the contents of the igloos need to be scaled down (sounds too much like a hand-out).
Oh and polar bears will do MUCH more than half a heart of damage. I say three or four.
ps - if there is no wood in the biome maybe the villagers shouldnt have any either.
Reply: Maybe new villager cloths so the villagers wont freeze!, and i might change the polar bears damage but not 4 hearts thats to much..
and about the biome not having wood but the villagers do.. Well the villagers could travel far away to collect wood, and the trading system could require well i dont really know.. if i make it ice than it would require a silk touch pick to collect, but once you have that pick then you would be getting alot of material, well i have a idea for the trading system now, polar bear fur.. maybe i could make the polar bears damage 4 hearts because you shouldent go around killing them like crazy taking advantage of those poor merchants and add some more health to them to so you dont take advantage with a diamond sword, and maybe just some sticks in chest not alot maybe just around 11 and around 4 meat In the whole village.. so you wont have everything given to you.
Well i might later add more ideas to this biome idea but for now this is it, also please leave your opinion on this suggestion and say rather you support or do not support this suggestion, and please leave ideas below and i might add them to the main post
That sounds cool, cool but the arctic sounds almost like the tundra. Also if there's no trees there, how are you going to survive in the biome? I like the idea of a village In the snow biome though, though and igloos sound like a great idea.

Acting like a creeper in your signature is too mainstream.

you would survive in igloos and you could collect snow or ice to build a house, and the food would come from the merchants or a new mob that i havent came up with yet, well i have some new mob ideas but new mobs arent favorited by mojang, and thanks

Then how would you get everything else without wood from trees? Wood is needed for almost everything.
Wanna mine ores? Need wood for tools. Want a weapon? Need wood. etc, etc. The biome would need trees like the tundra biome has.

The villages would have tools in them, and if you take all the wood then you would simply just have to go to the closest biome there is to get some, this biome is just like the flatlands biome but has diffrent layers such as ice and snow, and this idea does not need trees like the tundra that would ruin the entire idea
Can there be snow caves a glaciers.
I and others have brought this up in other threads, I think it would be a great place for new mobs and fun for exploration.

Well maybe what i suggested could be Arctic flatlands and maybe i could add some tall structures made of snow and some caves as the arctic instead

There should be dog sleds.
And it is possible to buy them from villagers.
They move twice the speed of running on snow blocks, snow slab thing, and ice.
But once on rock or dirt it moves walking speed when you make the dogs sprint.
I like the idea of hunters in all village types as well.
Villagers could Ice fish, with rods or spears.
They would also provide a medium line of defence for the villages.
And would have the strength of player and iron/stone weapons.
Maybe even have an economy type system to determine what the village does often depending on size and biome, they could be centred around a generated mine where miners mine and sell minerals.
Or just hunt like ice biomes.
They could have sawmills and harvest the forests.
There's so much to do in Minecraft why not let the villagers actually work as well?

Yes maybe you could once in a while find Arctic villagers cutting wood in a tundra or forest, and Arctic Hunter villagers that kill polar bears and bring the meat home to there chests?, and i like the Miner idea, Being able to find a mine (Tunnel leading from above ground) leading to a underground mine, where you can find miners that collect ores and continue to make the mine Bigger and Bigger, with chest to keep there ore in, If there are Abandon mines why not active mines?

Maybe even small scale advancement.
A wall could begin to generate around the village if it is doing well enough.
Then towers.
Different farm types.
Armed guards until the villagers have made themselves a small stronghold.
Maybe that's a bit far but why leave it solely to the player to protect them from mobs.
Make building in a village an attractive option.
Maybe make their spawns rarer aswell.
Some maps I've made had about 8.
One or Two is plenty for our small maps.
They should advance slowly though.
Don't want them digging up your whole map leaving nothing for you.

I like the idea, but I just hope if they do decide to add something like this that we have a few more biome types before this. Reason I say that is due to the fact that I seem to get a lot of snow maps, which is not something I want to work with...><
I unfortunately don't have anything to add, but still enjoy what the others have come up with this specific biome type.:D

I think that this idea should be for all villages not just Arctic biomes (Unless you meant all villages anyways), You should create a topic for this idea (Im to lazy) & i think its a Very good idea that mojang should add, villagers are sad and lonely.. They do nothing in they lives besides stay in there empty homes doing nothing.. i think this idea would make minecraft Alot better

I really Do Not like Snow biomes either, this idea would be Much diffrent from them, They would have Igloo Villages, they would have tall structures made of icea and or snow, then there would be Giant mountains made of snow with the Rare Arctic temple, with some melted areas that could also be a good place for fishing!

Something like extreme hills but made entirely of ice and stone would be cool. . . er, neat.
Careful with those torches.
