I downloaded the trial, but havent looked into it too much as of yet. The main thing I do dislike is how bright the inventory deal is, but the villagers look great. The music I heard was quite nice as well. After I am done swimming this ocean, I will be loading the default world and checking that out.
The world is amazing IMO. I was looking at the trial with my saughter and she was facinated with the pack as well. The Trojan statue was simple awesome, the Gorgon cave was very nice and what I assume is Atlantis was just the cherry on the sundae. The villagers were nicely done as well.
What I like about the world itself is that it looks quite nice in the Skyrim pack (havent looked at the other packs yet with this world). Some things I wasnt keen on: The jungle wood is horrid. The inventory is a lil too bright for my tastes, tho can get used to that.
Well worth the $4 IMO, tho most packs have been. I am going to be opening up some of the other worlds to see what Skyrim and Halo look like with this texture.
Another small gripe is I never knew there was a DL for this nor the TU with new woods. Was there official announcements here? I havent checked yet lol
Undoubtedly, this was the only good that came from TU27. The mash-up includes the usual stuff like new music, blocks
and skin theme. The music is nice and calming as a women hums a slow methodic melody. The sun is representted by
a larger than life star and is one of the more unique models. The overall lighting is actually rather bright unlike most
other packs.
The blocks-
Most have some minor changes to skin while others are more unique to the pack. Mostly I was impressed with the new
stained glass skins. There are a few textures that offer blocky spiral decorations which are nice and the colors are a
bit easier to tell apart. The pumpkin was another notable reskin that brings a bit of liveliness to castles and homes.
Wool as usual was given some interesting reskins, some of which are pretty neat.
The items-
Largely lightly reskinned, most items are pretty close to the original with a bit of flair. The more notable reskins
are the bow which in this pack is more solid abd features a dip in the middle. The armor tiers were fairly well
reskinned offering a midevil feel to them. Redstone devices offer an oddly colorful introduction. The crafting bench
is a bit more bland and the furnace gains some new cat decors.
The music-
Very fitting for the pack and suits minecraft well. The calm, zen like melodies may however see you drifting off to sleep
vs. being inspired to build. Perhaps after a nice nap accompanied by this music might definitely put you in the mood
for building 30 block tall pillars and 45 block tall houses all made from smoothed stones and sands.
The Enviroment-
The new skins for the 2 flowers are fairly nice. The grasses are more lush and thick, tree leaves are largely unchanged
and the sky is a nice baby blue. The enviroment isn't largely impacted but the small adds to water and clouds does make
a more tranquil, leisurely feel. Lava on the other hand had a horrid deep red reskin, easily my most disliked feature of
the whole pack.
Other Stuff-
Beacons are a light yellow originally and the combos with stained glass are largely an eye sore. But hey, if you want a near
pitch-black beacon, now you can have one by placing a black piece of stained glass over the beacon.
Mobs-
The mob reskins are enjoyable for the most part. My only dislike in this area was the creeper because the skin seems
almost identical to plastic and fantaay skins. The skeleton and zombie are reskinned nicely with minor additions
and subtractions.
The Skins-
All the skins were fair to moderate and offer some unique styles and diversity. My only dislike is that none of the skins
have capes. At least a few would have been nice considering capes and cloaks were believed to be some what common.
There are plenty of ancient dieties and gods that are portrayed along side some beasts of mythological proportions.
Overall-
I give the Greek Mythology Mash-Up Pack a 6/10. Definitely worth the $3.99 if you want to get an old ancient Greek
feel or if you want to fall asleep to a young woman humming and that's always nice. If you are a serious builder, this
pack is a must have but if your looking for something more then pass this up.
